올해로 3년 째 이어지는 경북 게임 페스티벌은 코로나19로 인해 ‘경북으로 ON하자’라는 슬로건으로 온라인으로 진행된다. 페스티벌 홈페이지, 유튜브(경북글로벌게임센터)를 통해 참관객들과 만날 예정이다.

주요 프로그램으로는TBC 특집방송‘붐 업! 레벨 업! 경북의 게임산업’이 11월 13일(17:50) 방영될 예정이며, 페스티벌 기간 동안 매일 오후 2시부터 7시까지 경북글로벌게임센터 Youtube 라이브 스트리밍을 통해 게임포럼, 온라인 골든벨, 유튜브 크리에이터 지근과 함께하는 ON스튜디오, 랜선버스킹 등의 다양한 라이브 프로그램들이 진행된다.

또한 게임 건전성 강연, 경산 우수 콘텐츠 소개, 크리에이터 민스쿨과 함께하는 게임기업 직업 탐구 프로그램 등 다수 프로그램을 사전 제작하여 경북 게임산업의 우수성을 알리고자 한다.

한편 경북도와 경산시는 수도권에 편중되어 있는 게임산업의 불균형을 해소하고, 게임콘텐츠산업 내 경쟁력 강화를 위해 2017년 경북테크노파크 내에 ‘경북글로벌게임센터’를 개소하여 게임기업 창업·콘텐츠 개발·국내외 마케팅 지원, 인력 양성 등 게임콘텐츠산업에 대해 종합적으로 지원하고 있다. 이를 통해 지역 내 우수한 청년 인재들의 일자리 창출과 지역경제 활성화를 목표로 게임산업을 육성하고 있다.
