【브레이크뉴스 경북 구미】이성현 기자=새마을세계화재단 세네갈 사무소는 지난 12월 12일 세네갈 생루이주에 위치한멩겐보이 마을 새마을센터에서 세미나를 개최했다고 22일 밝혔다.

이번 세미나에는 생루이주 간동시 비란 좁(Birane Diop) 시장을 포함하여 돔보알라르바, 딸바흘레, 멩겐보이, 음보로비란 등 4개 마을의 새마을지도자와 주민 100여명이 참석했다.

이날 세미나에서 안덕종 새마을세계화재단 세네갈 사무소장은 2014년부터 시작된 세네갈 새마을세계화사업의 내용과 성과에 대해 발표하고, 우리나라의 여성가족부에 해당하는청년부의 삼바 가이(Samba Gaye) 종합생활과장은 재단이 추진한 새마을세계화사업에 대해 평가한 내용을 발표했다.

평가에서 주민들의 소득 증대, 마을환경개선 등 많은 변화가 있었고, 특히 교육과 소득증대활동을 통해 여성의 지위향상에 큰 역할을 했다고 강조했다.

생루이주 간동시 아산 보이(Assan Boye) 환경과장은 멩겐보이 마을이 새마을세계화사업으로 변화된모습을 사진으로 보여주며, 멩겐보이는 대도시와가까워 젊은이들이 도시로 대부분 이주해사업이 어렵다고 생각되었으나 소득사업 시행, 새마을교육, 시범포 운영과 같은 재단의 노력으로 주민들의 의식이 변하고 젊은이들도 다시 마을을 찾는 등 주민 공동체가 활성화 되어 새마을세계화사업이 활발하게 진행되고 있는 마을로 바뀌었다고 평가했다.

비란 좁 생루이주 간동시장은 축사에서“새마을세계화재단이 우리지역에서 새마을세계화사업을 추진해준 덕분에 주민들이 더 나은 삶을 살 수 있는 계기를 마련해 주었다. 새마을세계화재단에게 감사의 인사를 전한다”고 말했다.

이병월 새마을세계화재단 사무처장은 “멩겐보이는 대도시 주변에 위치해 있어 새마을세계화사업이 어려울 것이라는 우려에도 재단과 마을 주민들이 다 같이 노력하여 새마을세계화사업의 성공을 이끌어낸 좋은 사례이다. 이번 세미나를 통해 멩겐보이 마을의 성과가 다른 지역으로도 확산될 수 있는 계기가 되기를 바라며, 앞으로도 현지에 맞는 새마을세계화사업을 꾸준히 발굴해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
