이번 건의문을 통해 중부내륙철도 점촌~안동 간 연계철도 신설로 중앙과 지방의 상생과 화합, 낙후된 경북 북부권 상생발전, 도청 소재지내 철도 인프라 구축 등 지역발전을 위해서도 반드시 필요한 사업이라고 강조했다.

특히, 경북도청 신도시 활성화 초석이 될 철도 신설로 경북 북부지역과 수도권을 연결하는 교통망을 구축해 경북 북부지역 발전은 물론국가균형발전을 실현하는 획기적인 전기가 될 것이라고 밝혔다.

이날 예천군의회 의원들은 “교통인프라 시너지 효과를 극대화하기 위해서는 제4차 국가 철도망 구축 계획에 경북도청 신도시를 통과하는 점촌~안동 간 연계철도 신설이 꼭 반영 되어야 한다.”고 강력하게 건의했다.
