군에 따르면 첫 출하의 주인공인 대가야읍 황유명 농가는 총 19동의 수박을 재배하며, 이번에 동당 650만원에 거래되었다.

고령 봄수박은 겨울철에 정식하여 평균 100일 이상 재배하기에 여름수박에 비해 당도가 높고 과육이 알찬 것이 특징이다.

올해 고령군은 239농가에서 172ha의 수박이 재배하고 있으며, 본격적인 출하는 대가야체험축제(5.5.~5.8.)를 겨냥하여 5월 5일 합동출하를 앞두고 있다.
