【브레이크뉴스 고령】이성현 기자=가야금의 발상지이자 악성 우륵의 고장인 고령군에서 열린 ‘제34회 고령 전국우륵가야금경연대회’가 지난 4월 12일, 이틀간의 열띤 경연을 마치고 성황리에 막을 내렸다.

고령군과 고령문화원이 공동 주관한 이번 대회에는 총 201팀 222명의 참가자가 모여 가야금의 전통과 기량을 겨뤘으며, 총상금 5,450만 원, 특히 우륵대상 상금 2,000만 원이라는 국내 최고 수준의 상금 규모로 뜨거운 관심을 끌었다.

영예의 대통령상(우륵대상)은 김용건 씨(24세, 서울대학교 음악대학원)가 차지했다. 김 씨는 “가야금의 성지인 고령에서 큰 상을 받게 돼 더없이 영광스럽다”며 “대회를 위해 헌신한 관계자와 심사위원들께 깊이 감사드린다”고 소감을 전했다.

부문별 대상 수상자는 다음과 같다.

대학부: 김가현(병창, 한국예술종합학교 3학년), 고등부: 오준희(기악, 국립전통예술고등학교 1학년), 중학부: 정연주(기악, 국립전통예술중학교 3학년), 초등부: 김우혁(기악, 대도초등학교 6학년)

이번 대회는 참가자 전원이 국내 최고 수준의 가야금 대회라는 명성에 걸맞는 높은 수준의 연주를 선보였다는 평가를 받았다. 심사위원장은 “모든 부문에서 고른 수준의 기량을 확인할 수 있어 매우 인상 깊었다”고 심사평을 밝혔다.

이남철 고령군수는 “대가야의 도읍지에서 펼쳐지는 우륵가야금경연대회는 대한민국 가야금 예술 발전의 중심축”이라며 “앞으로도 전통 국악의 계승과 대회의 권위를 지키기 위해 아낌없는 지원을 이어갈 것”이라고 밝혔다.

한편, ‘고령 전국우륵가야금경연대회’는 1991년 첫 개최 이후 30여 년의 역사를 자랑하는 국내 최고 권위의 가야금 대회로, 우륵의 정신을 계승하고 국악의 전통을 현대에 계승하는 상징적인 행사로 자리매김하고 있다.

This competition, co-hosted by Goryeong-gun and Goryeong Cultural Center, brought together 201 teams and 222 participants to compete in the tradition and skills of the gayageum, and attracted much attention with a total prize money of 54.5 million won, especially the Ureuk Grand Prize of 20 million won, the highest prize money in Korea.

The honorable Presidential Award (Ureuk Grand Prize) went to Kim Yong-geon (24 years old, Seoul National University Graduate School of Music). Kim said, “I am so honored to receive this grand prize in Goryeong, the mecca of gayageum,” and added, “I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the staff and judges who devoted themselves to the competition.”

The grand prize winners by category are as follows:

College: Kim Ga-hyeon (Byeongchang, 3rd year, Korea National University of Arts), High School: Oh Jun-hee (Instrumental, 1st year, National Traditional Arts High School), Middle School: Jeong Yeon-ju (Instrumental, 3rd year, National Traditional Arts Middle School), Elementary School: Kim Woo-hyeok (Instrumental, 6th year, Daedo Elementary School)

This competition was evaluated as having a high level of performance by all participants, living up to its reputation as the best gayageum competition in Korea. The head of the judging committee said, “It was very impressive to see a consistent level of skill in all categories.”

Goryeong County Governor Lee Nam-cheol said, “The Ureuk Gayageum Competition held in the capital city of Daegaya is the central axis of the development of gayageum art in the Republic of Korea,” and added, “We will continue to provide unsparing support to preserve the succession of traditional Korean music and the authority of the competition.” Meanwhile, the ‘Goryeong National Ureuk Gayageum Competition’ is the most prestigious gayageum competition in Korea with a history of over 30 years since its first event in 1991, and has established itself as a symbolic event that inherits the spirit of Ureuk and carries on the tradition of Korean music to the present.
