외국인 계절근로자 프로그램은 해외 지자체와 업무협약(MOU)을 체결하여근로자를 도입하거나 고령군에 거주하는 결혼이민자의 가족을 초청하는 방법으로, 농가에서 5개월에서 최대 8개월까지 고용할 수 있다.

참여를 희망하는 농가는 9월 20일까지 주소지 읍면행정복지센터(구 읍면사무소)에서 신청 가능하며, 농가와 계절근로자 매칭 작업을 통해 내년 2월부터 입국할 예정이다.

참여 농가는 근로자에게 적정 주거환경 제공 및 2025년 최저시급(1만30원) 기준 월급을 지급하는 등 고용주 준수사항을 이행하여야 한다.

고령군은 2024년 외국인 계절근로자 257명(9월 2일 기준)을 도입하였으며 하반기 140명을 추가로 도입할 계획이다.

고령군(군수 이남철)은 “외국인 계절근로자 입국으로 농업 인력 부족문제를 겪는 농가에 큰 도움이 되고 있으며, 앞으로 농가에 실질적인 도움이 될 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
