【브레이크뉴스 영덕】박영재 기자=영덕군은 관내 외국인 계절근로자 프로그램에 참여하는 라오스 출신 근로자 45명이 지난 24일 인천공항을 통해 입국했다고 26일 밝혔다.

군에 따르면 외국인 계절근로자 프로그램은 3개월 또는 5개월 동안 외국인을 합법적으로 고용할 수 있는 제도로, 영덕군은 올해 처음으로 이 제도를 도입해 상반기 71명의 외국인 계절근로자를 법무부로부터 배정받았으며, 이날 1차 입국한 후 차후 나머지 인원이 입국하게 된다.

이번 1차 입국 근로자들은 보건소에서 PCR 검사를 받고, 1일 격리를 마친 지난 25일 농업기술센터 강당에서 고용 농가와 함께 외국인 계절근로자 프로그램에 대한 근로기준, 근로자 인권보호, 코로나 19 예방수칙 등의 교육을 받은 후 시금치, 방풍, 담배 등을 재배하는 농가로 배치돼 영농작업에 투입됐다.

영덕군 농업기술센터 오도흥 소장은 “농촌 지역의 인력수급 문제가 심화되고 있는 가운데 이번 외국인 근로자 입국은 영덕군 계절근로자 첫 입국으로 큰 의미가 있다”며, “외국인 근로자와 농가가 서로 윈윈할 수 있도록 근로기준과 인권보호를 철저히 준수해 계절근로자 프로그램이 조기에 안착하고 확대될 수 있도록 최선을 다 하겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 영덕군은 외국인 계절근로자 프로그램에 대한 지역 농가의 관심이 커짐에 따라 하반기 계절근로자 고용에 대한 신청을 다음 달 3일까지 받고 있다. 고용을 희망하는 농가는 고용농가 준수사항을 확인한 후 각 읍·면사무소에 신청하면 된다.

Meanwhile, Yeongdeok-gun is accepting applications for seasonal workers in the second half of the month until the 3rd of next month as local farmers are increasingly interested in the foreign seasonal worker program. Farmers wishing to hire can apply to each eup/myeon office after confirming the requirements of the employed farmer.
