영덕군은 과수화상병 발생 위험이 커지기 전 선제 대응 차원에서 ‘과수화상병 예찰·방제 지침’에 따라 지난해 11월 10일부터 올해 4월까지를 예방 중점기간으로 정하고, 관리 과원과 인근 과원을 중심으로 집중 예찰과 방제 활동을 추진하고 있다고 밝혔다.

과수화상병은 꽃과 잎이 갑자기 마르며 불에 탄 듯한 증상을 보이고, 가지와 줄기에서 세균 유출물이 나타나는 것이 특징이다. 어린 열매는 수침 증상 이후 흑갈색으로 변해 마르지만 나무에서 떨어지지 않고 매달린 채 남아 있는 경우가 많다. 특히 기온이 높아질수록 전파 속도가 빨라 각별한 주의가 요구된다.

이에 영덕군은 예방 중점기간 동안 월동 병원균 제거, 의심 증상 예찰, 시료 채취 및 정밀검사 등을 집중적으로 실시하고 있으며, 과거 발생지 인근과 감염 우려 지역을 중심으로 전염원 사전 제거를 강화해 발생 가능성을 미연에 차단할 계획이다.

아울러 오는 2~3월 중 과수화상병 예방 약제를 농가에 공급하고, 적기 방제가 이뤄질 수 있도록 농가 지도와 현장 점검을 병행할 방침이다.

군은 과수원에서 과수화상병 의심 증상이 발견될 경우 즉시 영덕군농업기술센터(☎ 730-6864)로 신고해 줄 것을 농가에 당부했다. 신고 접수 시 현장 확인과 정밀검사를 통해 신속하게 대응할 계획이다.

황대식 영덕군농업기술센터 소장은 “과수화상병은 사후 방제보다 예방이 무엇보다 중요하다”며 “전염원 사전 제거와 철저한 예찰을 통해 농가 피해를 최소화하는 데 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
