【브레이크뉴스 영덕】박영재 기자=경상북도 해양수산의 지속 가능한 발전 방안을 논의하는 제13회 경북 해양수산 활성화 심포지엄이 지난 19일 영덕군 로하스 수산식품지원센터 대강당에서 성황리에 열렸다.

경상북도와 영덕군이 주최하고 영남일보가 주관한 이번 심포지엄에는 학계·연구기관 전문가, 수산업계 관계자, 공무원 등 200여 명이 참석해 ‘경북 통합 해양수산 대전환 추진계획 진단과 활성화 방안’을 주제로 심도 있는 논의를 이어갔다.

행사는 박원규 국립부경대학교 자원생물학과 교수의 기조강연 ‘지속 가능한 해양수산 발전 전략’으로 막을 열었다. 이어 열린 세션 1에서는 △최임호 한국수자원공단 블루카본전략실장이 ‘바다숲 조성을 통한 건강한 해양생태계 복원’ △박상우 한국해양수산개발원 어촌연구부장이 ‘해양수산 국정과제와 동해안 수산업·어촌 발전 전략’을 각각 발표했다.

세션 2에서는 △김종남 대경대 관광크루즈승무원과 교수가 ‘경북 해양관광 활성화 방안’을, △서병로 건국대 교수가 ‘영덕 웰니스 해양관광의 미래’를 제시하며 관광 분야의 발전 가능성을 짚었다.

마지막 세션에서는 △이정석 경상대 해양식품생명의학부 교수가 ‘경북HMR 블루푸드 가공산업의 소프트웨어 중심 발전전략’을, △서진호 부경대 기계시스템공학전공 교수가 ‘스마트가공 기술 개발을 통한 Physical-AI 자율생성공정 구현’을 발표하며 스마트 수산가공산업의 성장 방안을 모색했다.

또한 학계와 현장 전문가들이 참여한 패널토론에서는 경북형 해양수산 대전환 추진 전략의 실효성을 점검하고, 지역 어업 현안 해결 및 미래 발전 방향을 둘러싼 활발한 의견 교환이 이뤄졌다.

김광열 영덕군수는 “기후변화와 어업 인구 감소로 해양수산업이 위기에 놓인 상황에서 이번 심포지엄에서 논의된 대안들이 현장에 실질적으로 반영돼 어업인과 지역 주민들에게 도움이 되길 바란다”며 “학계·연구기관·수산업계가 함께 힘을 모은다면 미래를 담보할 수 있는 해양수산업으로 전환이 가능할 것”이라고 강조했다.

Gyeongbuk Marine and Fisheries Revitalization Symposium Concludes Successfully… “Seeking Solutions for Sustainable Development”

The 13th Gyeongbuk Marine and Fisheries Revitalization Symposium, which discussed sustainable development strategies for Gyeongsangbuk-do's marine and fisheries sectors, was successfully held on the 19th in the main auditorium of the Yeongdeok County LOHAS Fisheries and Food Support Center.

Hosted by Gyeongsangbuk-do and Yeongdeok County and organized by Yeongnam Ilbo, the symposium brought together approximately 200 participants, including experts from academia and research institutions, fisheries industry officials, and public officials, to engage in in-depth discussions on the topic, “Diagnosis of the Gyeongbuk Integrated Marine and Fisheries Transformation Plan and Revitalization Measures.”

The event opened with a keynote speech titled “Sustainable Marine and Fisheries Development Strategy” by Professor Park Won-gyu of the Department of Resource Biology at Pukyong National University. In Session 1, Choi Im-ho, Director of the Blue Carbon Strategy Office at the Korea Water Resources Corporation, presented on "Restoring a Healthy Marine Ecosystem through Marine Forest Creation," and Park Sang-woo, Director of the Fisheries Research Department at the Korea Maritime Institute, presented on "National Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Policy Tasks and East Coast Fisheries Industry and Fishing Village Development Strategies."

In Session 2, Kim Jong-nam, a cruise ship crew member and professor at Daegyeong University, presented on "Gyeongbuk Marine Tourism Revitalization Plans," and Seo Byeong-ro, a professor at Konkuk University, presented on "The Future of Yeongdeok Wellness Marine Tourism," highlighting the potential for growth in the tourism sector.

In the final session, Lee Jeong-seok, a professor at the Department of Marine Food and Life Sciences at Gyeongsang National University, presented on "Software-Centric Development Strategies for the Gyeongbuk HMR Blue Food Processing Industry," and Seo Jin-ho, a professor at Pukyong National University's Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering, presented on "Implementation of a Physical-AI Autonomous Generation Process through the Development of Smart Processing Technology," exploring growth strategies for the smart fishery processing industry.

A panel discussion involving experts from academia and the field examined the effectiveness of the Gyeongbuk-style maritime and fisheries transformation strategy and fostered a lively exchange of opinions on resolving pressing issues in the local fisheries industry and future development directions.

Yeongdeok County Mayor Kim Gwang-yeol stated, "With the maritime and fisheries industry facing a crisis due to climate change and a declining fishing population, I hope the solutions discussed at this symposium will be practically implemented in the field and benefit fishermen and local residents." He emphasized, "If academia, research institutions, and the fishing industry work together, we can transform the maritime and fisheries industry into one that secures the future."
