올해 축제는 “다시 온 황금은어, 다시 ON 영덕”을 슬로건으로, 경북산불 이후 처음 열리는 대규모 지역축제라는 점에서 군민과 관광객 모두에게 깊은 의미를 더한다.

영덕 황금은어는 과거 임금에게 진상되던 지역 대표 특산물로, 특히 아가미 뒤 황금빛 문양과 수박 향이 나는 독특한 향미, 비린내 없는 담백한 맛으로 미식가들의 사랑을 받고 있다. 은어가 서식하는 오십천은 수질이 맑고 깨끗해, 국내는 물론 일본에서도 낚시객들이 찾는 명소로 자리 잡아 왔다.

한편, 무더위 속에서도 안전하고 쾌적한 축제 운영을 위해 축제장 곳곳에는 대형 그늘막, 선풍기, 포그 분무기, 얼음 비치 공간 등이 설치된다.

김광열 영덕군수는 “이번 축제가 산불 피해로 지친 군민들에게 희망과 위로가 되는 축제가 되기를 바란다”며, “은어의 참맛과 여름의 열정을 함께 즐기러 많은 분들이 영덕을 찾아주시길 기대한다”고 말했다.
