‘음식점 위생등급제’는 식품의약품안전처가 음식점의 위생 상태를 평가해 매우 우수(★★★), 우수(★★), 좋음(★)의 3단계로 등급을 부여하는 제도다. 소비자의 선택권을 높이고 위생관리 수준 향상을 유도하기 위한 정부 인증 제도로, 최근 외식업계의 관심이 높아지고 있다.

이번 사업에 참여하는 업소들은 3차례에 걸쳐 전문 위생 컨설턴트의 현장 방문을 통해 영업 환경에 대한 진단과 개선 방향에 대한 맞춤형 지도를 받게 된다. 이를 통해 음식점들은 위생등급제 신청을 위한 전반적인 준비를 체계적으로 지원받을 수 있을 전망이다.

위생등급을 획득한 업소에는 △방역 소독 지원 △위생 관련 출입검사 2년 면제 △위생등급 표지판 및 위생용품 제공 등의 혜택이 주어지며, 특히 ‘2024년 영덕맛집’ 선정 과정에서 가점이 부여돼 홍보 효과도 기대된다.

김광열 영덕군수는 “외식 수요가 늘고 있는 흐름에 발맞춰, 음식점들이 자발적으로 위생 관리를 강화할 수 있도록 실질적인 맞춤형 지원을 아끼지 않을 것”이라며, “군민과 관광객 모두가 안심하고 식사할 수 있는 쾌적한 외식 환경을 조성하기 위해 지속적으로 노력하겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 영덕군은 앞으로도 외식업계 경쟁력 강화를 위한 다양한 지원 정책을 확대해 나간다는 계획이다.
