대구의료원 국화원 장례식장은 지난 4월 대구시로부터 일회용품 없는 친환경 장례식장 시범사업장으로 선정되었으며 1만 명분의 식기를 지원받아 일부 접객실 내 다회용기를 비치하고 시범 운영 중이다.
다회용기 도입 초기 다소 불편이 예상되지만, 종이나 플라스틱이 아닌 식당과 같은 용기를 사용해 예우를 갖추어야 할 장례식장에서 차림새가 좋으며 폐기물 배출량을 줄여 환경 보호적인 측면에서도 장점이 있을 것으로 기대된다.
김승미 대구의료원장은 “다회용기 도입을 통해 일회용품 사용을 줄이고 환경을 생각하는 친환경 장례식장 문화를 확산해 나갈 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
