【브레이크뉴스 상주】이성현 기자=경북도민과 상주시민의 오랜 숙원사업인 중부내륙철도(문경~상주~김천)건설사업은 2016년 제3차 국가철도망 구축계획 반영, 2019년 1월국가균형발전 프로젝트 예비타당성조사 대상사업에 선정됐다.

2019년 6월 예비타당성 조사에 착수해 2차례의점검회의를거친 후 2022년 11월16일 SOC 분과위원회를 개최해 평가결과를 점검하고 11월 28일기획재정부에서 중부내륙철도(문경~상주~김천)건설사업이 재정사업평가위원회에서 예비타당성조사 최종 통과를 발표했다.

중부내륙철도(문경~상주~김천)건설사업은 문경에서 김천까지 총연장69.8km 구간의 선형을 개량하고, 전철화하는 사업으로 총사업비는1조3,069억원 전액 국비가 투자되는 사업으로 향후 2023년 국토교통부의 기본계획 수립을 거쳐, 기본 및 실시설계, 착공을 거쳐 2030년 완공될 예정이다.

이 사업은 중부선(수서~김천~거제) 노선 중 유일한 미연결 구간으로써사업이 시행되면 서울에서 거제까지 준고속 철도망이 완성되어수도권과 중부내륙 낙후지역, 남부내륙을 연결하는 산업벨트 구축으로지역 균형발전이한단계 업그레이드 돼 서울 수서에서 상주까지 소요 시간이 1시간17분,상주에서 거제까지 1시간 30분으로 연결되어, 서울에서 거제까지1시간 가량단축될 것으로 전망된다.
