【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자= (주) 아바코가 상주에 300억원 규모의 투자를 추진한다. 

상주시는 6일 경상북도(도지사 이철우)와 상주시(시장 강영석)가 ㈜아바코와 총 300억 원 규모의 투자양해각서를 체결했다고 밝혔다.

아바코는 평판디스플레이 설비 장비 개발 및 생산을 위해 2000년에 설립된 기업으로, 현재는 OLED 분야 및 차세대 디스플레이 공정 장비 개발, 반도체 검사 장비 개발, 이차전지 공정 장비 개발 등으로 사업 영역을 확장하고 있는 것으로 알려진 기업이다.

아바코는 오는 5월부터 2025년 12월까지 상주일반산업단지 5만㎡ 부지에 디스플레이 및 이차전지 생산 기계 장비 공장을 신설,  신 생산설비 도입을 통한 생산량 증대 및 품질 향상, 제품 라인업 확대를 통한 시장 점유율 제고 등을 통해 세계 일류를 위한 혁신을 펼쳐나갈 예정이다.

특히, 각종 인허가 용역 및 토목․건설사업 시행 시 지역 업체를 우선 이용하고, 50명의 지역 인재를 신규 채용함으로써 지역경제에도 새로운 역할이 기대되고 있다. 

이날 강영석 상주시장은 “상주일반산업단지는 상주IC와 1km 인접했으며 전국 어디든지 접근할 수 있는 장점이 있다”며 “아바코가 이번 공장신설을 통해 디스플레이 및 이차전지 기계장비 제조 분야에서 업계 선두주자로 우뚝 서기를 바라고, 경상북도와 상주시는 사업이 원활하게 추진될 수 있도록 적극적으로 협조하겠다”고 밝혔다.
