대공원에 따르면 이날 나무심기는 지속가능한 녹지콘텐츠 확충의 일환인 무장애 힐링 관광숲길 조성과 연계해 공원을 찾는 관람객들의 만족도를 높이고 쾌적한 환경 조성을 위해 진행됐다.

전 직원들이 참여해 맨발둘레길 입구에서 편백나무 묘목 150주, 수국 740본을 정성껏 심었으며, 나무심기를 통한 탄소중립 실천에 동참했다.

정규식 경주엑스포대공원 사무총장은 “오늘 심은 나무들이 10년 20년 뒤에는 우리 공원을 더욱 풍요롭게 만들어 줄 것이라며, 앞으로도 탄소중립 실천과 ESG경영을 통해 지속가능한 공원환경을 조성해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
