시에 따르면 재난대응 안전한국훈련은 경상북도·경산시 공동 주관으로 산림청, 경북경찰청, 경산경찰서, 경산소방서, 인접 시군(영천시, 청도군) 등 25개 유관기관과 민간 단체, 시민참여단 등 500여명이 참여한 가운데 지난해 10월 30일 진행됐다.

경산시는‘대형산불 발생 및 송전선로 소실에 따른 전력공급 장애’을 가정해 재난 현장 초기대응, 인명 대피, 구조·피해 수습·복구 등 현장 대응 훈련과 토론훈련을 한 결과 훈련기획·설계·환류 등 20개 지표에서 높은 평가를 받아 우수기관으로 선정됐다.

특히, 재난 현장 발생 초기부터 대응·수습·복구 상황을 드론, CCTV,드론 적외선 카메라 열 감시 등의 IT 기기를 적극 활용해 실시간 현장상황을 공유하고 재난안전통신단말기(PS-LTE)를 활용한 실시간 지휘 대응과 소통으로 훈련 효과를 극대화하고 훈련 연속성을 유지한 부분에서 높은 평가를 받았다.

조현일 경산시장은 “이번 수상은 유관기관과 서로 긴밀하게 협력해 실질적 재난 대응 역량을 높인 것을 인정받은 것으로 앞으로도 지속해서 훈련하고 철저히 대비해 시민 안전을 최우선으로 하는 재난 대응체계를굳건히 해 나가겠다”고 했다.
