회의에는 조지연 국회의원, 시의원, 15개 읍면동장, 관련 부서장 등이 참석하여 산불 예방 및 대응 체계를 점검했다.

조현일 시장은 "부주의로 인한 산불이 순식간에 소중한 산림을 재로 만들고 있다"며, 영농부산물 소각 등 불법 소각행위에 대한 단속을 강화하고, 이를 일으킨 사람에 대한 엄정한 조치를 취할 것을 강력히 주문했다.

시에서는 산불 발생 시 신속하고 효과적인 대응을 위해 진화 인력과 장비 점검을 철저히 하고, 유관기관과의 협력체계를 강화하여 지상과 공중 입체 진화 체계를 유지할 방침이다. 또한, 지난 22일 산불 국가위기경보가 '심각'으로 격상됨에 따라, 시는 산불 예방을 위한 총력 대응 체제로 전환하여 24시간 상황을 유지하며 대응하고 있다.

경산시는 산불 감시와 예방을 위해 공무원 190여 명을 산림 내 독가촌 및 화목 보일러 가구, 주요 등산로 등에 집중 배치해 순찰을 강화하고 있으며, 산불 감시원과 협력하여 산불 취약 지역에 대한 예찰 및 감시를 강화하고 있다. 특히, 산림 인접지에서 소각 행위가 확인되면 과태료 부과 등 무관용 원칙을 적용할 계획이다.

한편, 경산시는 의성 지역 산불 진화대원들을 지원하기 위해 방진 마스크 2,000개와 진화용 장갑을 제공하고, 산불 진화 헬기 1대와 전문 진화대를 급파하여 합동 진화 작업을 펼쳤다. 또한, 청년 새마을 연대, 적십자 봉사회 등 민간 자원봉사단체는 대형 산불 피해 지역 주민들을 위해 급식 지원과 구호물품을 전달하고 자원봉사 활동을 진행하고 있다.
