24일 칠곡군에 따르면 칠곡군아이누리장난감 도서관은 지난해 12월부터 4차례에 걸쳐 각계각층의 주민들로부터 기부받은 장난감 600여 점을 비롯해 의류와 신발 등을 라오스 농사이 마을에 전달했다.

칠곡군이 새마을세계화 사업을 펼치고 있는 농사이 마을 어린이들에게 장난감을 통해 꿈과 희망을 불어넣기 위해서다.

라오스 어린이를 위해 10대 청소년들은 추억이 고스란히 담겨있는 장난감을 내어놓았고, 젊은 부부들은 아이들이 애지중지 아꼈던 장난감을 기부했다.

자동차와 인형에서부터 뽀로로와 타요 등 한국을 대표하는 캐릭터 장난감은 물론 최근 아이들로부터 최고의 인기를 얻고 있는 티닝핑 장난감까지 포함됐다.

칠곡군은 물론 서울과 부산 등 다양한 지역에서 장난감 기부에 동참하는 온정의 손길이 이어지고 있다.

장난감 기부와 함께 라오스와 아프리카에 보낼 장난감 포장과 세척 봉사에도 주민들의 두 손을 걷고 나섰다.

북삼고 이세진 교사와 학생 6명은 지난 23일 칠곡군 아이누리장난감도서관을 찾아 학생들과 교직원이 모은 장난감을 전달하고 인체에 해가 없는 곡물 발효 알코올로 장난감을 세척했다.

새마을재단은 장난감이 현지에 전달될 수 있도록 배편을 마련하고 자원봉사자를 통해 장난감을 전달하고 사용법을 교육하는 등 지원사격에 나섰다.

칠곡군에서 보낸 장난감이 농사이 어린이들로부터 폭발적인 반응을 얻자 새마을재단은 나이지리아 등 아프리카에도 장난감을 보낼 계획이다.

칠곡군의 선한 영향력으로 예천 등 경북의 다른 장난감도서관에서도 주민들로부터 장난감을 기부받아 아프리카에 보낸다.

칠곡군아이누리장난감 도서관은 오는 10월에도 장난감 400여 점과 의류와 신발 등을 보낼 계획이다.

김명신 칠곡군아이누리장난감 도서관장은“장난감 기부에 함께해 주신 모든 분께 감사 인사를 드린다.”라며“일회성에 그치지 않고 앞으로도 개발도상국 어린이를 위한 장난감 기부 운동을 이어 나갈 계획”이라고 밝혔다.

김재욱 칠곡군수는“칠곡군에서 시작된 장난감 기부라는 작은 나비의 날갯짓이 라오스와 아프리카에 태풍처럼 불기 시작했다.”라며“라오스에 보낸 장난감은 희망을 전한 값진 선물이 될 것”이라고 말했다.
