15일 군에 따르면 기산면 영리 박진극(64세)씨는 지난해 11월 18일 신품종인 강찬꿀을 시설참외하우스 17동 규모에정식해25상자(1박스/10kg)를 첫 수확하여 지난 13일 북대구 농협공판장에 납품했다.

칠곡벌꿀참외는 전국 최초로 참외에 꿀벌을 투입해 자연수정 하는 기술을 접목함으로써 맛과당도가 높고 육질이 아삭한 고품질 참외를 생산하여 소비자로부터 꾸준한 사랑을 받고 있다.

김재욱 군수는 “최근 이상기후와 농업경영비 상승, 고령화 등 어려운 여건속에서도 농가의 정성과 재배기술이 더해져 명품 칠곡참외가 탄생할 수 있었다.”며 격려하고 “고품질 참외 생산을 위한 시설 현대화 및 유통구조 개선 등 참외산업발전을 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
