【브레이크뉴스 칠곡】이성현 기자=경북 칠곡군 왜관읍에 위치한 태왕 아너스 센텀 아파트. 728세대가 거주하는 이곳에서 입주자대표회의가 주도해 여름방학 맞이 특별 이벤트를 열었다. 10×10미터 초등용, 10×8미터 유아용 풀장이 나란히 설치된 것. 

단지 내 200여명의 아이들이 물놀이 삼매경에 빠지면서 폭염을 이겨내고 있다. 풀장 한쪽에는 소박한 플리마켓도 함께 열렸다. 부모들은 장을 보고, 아이들은 물놀이에 시간 가는 줄 몰랐다. 

무엇보다 중요한 안전을 위해 관리소는 사전 교육을 받은 대학생 아르바이트 3명을 안전요원으로 투입하고, 주말임에도 관리소 전 직원이 총출동해 물놀이 현장을 지켰다. 

아파트 주민들도 솔선했다. 12명의 주민이 일일 자원봉사자로 나서 운영을 도왔다. 

아이들은 ‘슬라이딩 에어바운스’를 무척이나 좋아했다. 줄을 서서 기다릴 만큼 인기였고, 미끄러지는 그 짜릿한 재미에 아이들은 좀처럼 풀장을 떠나지 않았다.

아이들이 하루 종일 물속에 있던 차에 어른들은 행여 감기라도 걸릴까 걱정하며 직접 어묵탕을 끓여 무료로 제공했다. 용기 하나를 골라도 환경을 생각해 일회용기 대신 개개인이 가져온 개인 용기를 사용하는 배려도 눈에 띄었다.

이번 행사를 기획한 것으로 알려진 입주자대표회의 회장 최슬민(48) 씨는“단지 안에서 아이들이 안전하게 놀고, 부모님들도 편하게 쉴 수 있는 공간을 만들고 싶었다”며“주민들끼리 소통하는 계기가 되고, 입주민 이외의 아이들까지 함께 어울리면서 지역 사회의 화합에 조금이나마 기여하고 싶었다”고 말했다.

김재욱 칠곡군수는“찜통더위가 이어지는 계절, 아파트 한복판에서 터진 아이들의 웃음소리와 물장구 소리가 이웃의 마음까지 시원하게 적셨다”며“작은 풀장 두 개가 만든 변화는 단지의 담장을 넘어, 지역을 잇는 따뜻한 다리가 되고 있다”고 말했다.

Choi Seul-min (48), the president of the residents’ association who is known to have planned this event, said, “I wanted to create a space where children can play safely in the complex and parents can rest comfortably,” and “I wanted to create an opportunity for residents to communicate with each other and contribute to the harmony of the local community by having children other than residents hang out together.”

Chilgok County Governor Kim Jae-wook said, “In this season of continuous sweltering heat, the laughter and splashing of children in the middle of the apartment cooled the hearts of neighbors,” and “The change created by the two small pools is becoming a warm bridge that goes beyond the walls of the complex and connects the region.”
