【브레이크뉴스 경북 경주】이성현 기자=경주엑스포 솔거미술관이 전국 최초로 한국화의 필법을 미디어 아트로 구현한 특별 기획전 ‘서화(書畵), 조응(調應)하다’를 오는 6월 20일까지 진행한다.

26일 (재)문화엑스포(이사장 이철우 경북도지사)에 따르면 이번 전시는 전통적인 한국화의 정서와 제작 방법, 글과 그림이 주는 조형적 아름다움을 조명하기 위한 취지로 마련돼 서화의 미래 발전 방향에 대한 화두를 던진다.

박대성 화백이 자신만의 독창적인 정서와 필법이 담긴 서예작품과 한국화를 탄생시키기 위해 명필가들의 글을 필사하며 연습한 ‘임서(臨書)’ 작품과 그림을 따라 그린 ‘임모(臨摸)’ 작품 등을 처음으로 대중에게 선보인다.

특히 작품을 제작하는 작가의 섬세한 손놀림을 담은 미디어아트를 도입한 영상전시관을 국내 최초로 꾸미는 등 이색적인 방식으로 기존과는 다른 입체적인 감동을 전해 기대를 모은다.

제1전시관에서 펼쳐지는 미디어아트 ‘필법’은 박대성 화백의 작품세계와 고뇌하는 거장의 모습, 붓의 움직임을 생동감 있는 영상으로 구현했다. 예술에 대한 열정과 철학, 정신자세 등을 박대성 화백의 목소리로 직접 전하며 관람객을 매료시킨다.

박대성 화백은 “서와 화는 다르지 않고 한국화의 본질은 진정성에서 시작된다”며 “끊임없는 노력과 마음을 순화시키고 나의 작업에 대해 무엇보다 소중하게 여겨야한다”고 그림을 대하는 자세를 영상을 통해 허심탄회하게 드러냈다.

제2전시관은 조선시대 문인 추사 김정희와 통일신라 서예가 김생 등 역사에 기록된 명필가의 자료를 바탕으로 서화의 기초에 대한 이해를 높일 수 있는 다양한 자료들로 꾸몄다.

SNS에서 인증샷 성지로 유명한 ‘내가 풍경이 되는 창’이 있는 제3전시실은 가벽을 중간 중간 세워 작품을 설치하는 등 솔거미술관을 완전히 새로운 느낌으로 변신시켰다.

이 가벽은 이민희 전 국립현대미술관 전시디자이너가 디자인해 ‘레드닷 디자인 어워드’에서 수상한 작품이다. 에어매쉬 소재를 활용해 조명의 반사율을 높여 한지의 은은한 분위기를 극대화하는 장점을 가졌다.

제4전시관에서는 천장에서부터 바닥을 가로지르며 펼쳐놓은 20m길이의 대작 임서작품이 눈길을 사로잡는다. 또 추사 김정희가 그린 ‘세한도’(국보 180호)의 모습을 그대로 묘사한 임모작이 압도적인 탄성을 자아낸다.

이밖에 먹의 농담을 조절해 조선시대 여성의 단아함을 표현한 그림과 함께 감각적으로 표현한 한시(漢詩)작품 등 독창적인 신작 40점을 포함해 전체 44점이 관람객을 맞는다.

무엇보다 코로나19 확산방지를 위해 관람인원을 정원의 30%미만으로 조절해 운영하고 발열체크와 수시소독 등을 통해 안전한 환경을 유지하며 전시를 운영한다.

류희림 경주엑스포대공원 사무총장은 “이번 전시는 박대성 화백의 서화작품을 미디어아트와 결합한 인터랙티브 전시로 꾸며 관람객들에게 한 차원 높은 깊이 있는 감동을 제공한다”며 “다양하고 품격 있는 전시를 꾸준히 기획하고 운영해 한국 미술 발전에 앞장서는 공립미술관이 될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

한편 박대성 화백은 한국화의 전통적인 재료와 화법, 서법 등에서 차용한 여러 방법을 종합해 전통수묵화를 시대의 감각에 맞는 현대적인 한국화로 재탄생시키고 있다. 지난해 10월에는 ‘2020년 문화예술발전 유공자’로 선정돼 옥관 문화훈장을 수훈했다.
