‘인피니티 플라잉’은 ‘난타’와 ‘점프’를 만든 대한민국을 대표하는 넌버벌(無대사) 공연 제작자 최철기 감독과 경주엑스포가 함께 제작한 것으로 지난 2011년 경주세계문화엑스포 주제 공연 ‘플라잉’으로 첫 선을 보였다.

‘플라잉’은 기계체조와 리듬체조 등 국가대표 출신 배우들이 참여해 체조기술뿐만 아니라 치어리딩, 마샬아츠 등을 접목한 역동적인 무대를 연출한다.

주요 스토리는 시간의 문을 통해 신라시대에서 현대로 도망 온 도깨비와 그를 잡기위해 뒤를 쫓는 화랑 비형랑, 치어리딩 대회를 준비하는 학생들이 만드는 좌충우돌 이야기다.

특히 지난해 ‘2019 경주세계문화엑스포’를 계기로 세계 최초로 상설 공연에 로봇팔과 3D홀로그램을 접목하며 업그레이드해 ‘인피니티 플라잉’으로 재탄생시켰다.

배우가 와이어를 타고 무대 위를 돌던 연출이 객석까지 확장돼 관객의 머리위로 날아다니고 로봇팔에 탑승한 배우가 360도 회전하며 3D홀로그램과 어우러져 역동적인 감동의 극치를 보여준다.

알찬 구성과 화려한 액션으로 무장한 ‘인피니티 플라잉’은 지난 9년간 서울과 부산, 대구 등 국내 55개 도시와 터키, 홍콩, 대만, 싱가포르 등 8개국에서 2,000회가 넘는 공연을 진행했다.

이를 통해 누적 관람객 90만 명을 유치하는 성과를 거두며 지역 공연예술을 넘어 대한민국 문화에 새로운 역사를 써내려가고 있다.
