국민의힘 대구시당은 31일 성명을 내고 “대구시민의 신성한 투표권을 모독하는 발언으로 대구를 폄훼했다”며 “대구시민에 엎드려 사죄하라”고 주장했다.
이광재 더불어민주당 국회의원은 31일 부산에서 열린 민주당 중앙선거대책위원회 회의에 참석해 “지난 41년간 박정희 전두환 노태우 이명박 박근혜 대통령이 나왔음에도 대구 경제는 지금 전국에서 꼴찌”라며“사람을 보고 뽑은 게 아니라 당을 보고 뽑았기 때문에 이런 결과가 생겼다”고 말했다.
국민의힘 대구시당은 “이 의원의 발언은 듣는 이의 귀를 의심케 하는 역대급 막말”이라고 규정하고 “2010년 강원도지사에 당선된 이후 박연차 게이트 연루로 취임 7개월 여만에 중도 낙마, 보궐선거를 하게 만들어 강원도민에게 민폐를 끼치더니, 오거돈 전 부산시장의 성비위로 인해 발생한 이번 부산시장 보궐선거판에 나타나 지역비하 발언을 일삼는 것을 보면 이 분의 후안무치함은 타고난 성향인 듯하다”고 비난했다.
그러면서 “LH 땅투기, 전세금 인상 논란으로 경질된 청와대 정책실장 등 요즘 민주당의 행태에 책임지며 자중하고 부끄러워하지는 못 할망정, 얼마나 낯이 두꺼우면 이런 망언을 하는지 의아함을 금할 수 없다”덧붙였다.
시당은 또 “문재인 정부가 초래한 대한민국 최악의 경제위기 상황 때문에 아무리 선거가 불리하게 전개되더라도 애먼 대구를 끌어들여 비하하는 것은 하지 말아야 할 짓”이라고 강조하고 “이광재 의원은 대구시민에게 즉각 무릎 꿇고 사죄하고, 자격 없는 국회의원직에서 하루빨리 사퇴하라”고 거듭 강조했다.
