【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=해병대제1사단은 3일 노들섬 행사장에서 세계 환경의 날 제정50주년을 기념해 열린 제27회 환경의 날 기념행사에서 환경보존 유공 대통령 표창을 수상했다고 밝혔다.

기념행사는 ‘하나뿐인 지구, 자연과 조화로운지속 가능한 삶’을 주제로 한화진 환경부장관 주관으로 거행됐다. 행사는 개회선언, 국민의례, 기념사, 축사, 영상시청, 유공자 포상, 주제 퍼포먼스 등의 순서로 거행됐다.

해병대제1사단은 최근 5년간 환경보존을 위해 실시한 다양한 활동과 에너지 절약 노력을 인정받아 대통령 표창 수상의 영예를 얻었다. 이재욱 해병대제1사단 행정부사단장이 부대를 대표하여 대통령 표창을 수여받았다.

또한, 지방자치단체와 협조하여 지속적으로 해상과 해안을 포함한지역 환경정화활동을 진행하고 있다. 21년 한해 기준 총 12회, 병력 2,900여명을 지원하였으며 약 812톤의 쓰레기를 수거했다.
