【브레이크뉴스 경주】박영재 기자=위덕대학교는 지난 10월 29일 서울 aT센터에서 열린 2022 KOREA 월드푸드 챔피언십 경연대회에 외식산업학부 학생들이 라이브 코스음식 경연에 참가해 금메달1, 은메달 2을 차지했다고 2일 밝혔다.
5인 1조로 3개조 15명의 위덕대학교 학생들이 참가한 가운데 전국의 대학생들과 현장 라이브로 치열한 경연을 펼쳤다.
참가요리는 오리 코스요리와 석류를 이용한 젤리, 새우와 오이를 이용한 세비체, 단호박과 마늘을 이용한 돼지고기 요리, 귤 무스 등 다양한 제철식품을 이용한 코스식 음식을 선보여 호평을 받았고 금메달1, 은메달 2에 우수상(국회위원상)을 받았다.
총괄팀장을 맡은 4학년 이창현 학생은“이번 대회는 3학년, 4학년학생들이 팀장을 맡고 1,2학년 학생들이 팀원으로 참가하여 좋은 팀워크를 보여주었다. 첫 연습부터 경연이 끝날 때 까지 저를 믿고 함께 해준 위덕대학교 외식산업학부 청마루 동아리 후배들에게 고마움을 전한다”고 말했다.
위덕대학교 외식산업학부 이지현교수는“학생들이 밤 열두시가 넘도록 연습을 하는 것을 보며 최선을 다하는 모습 자체가 아름다웠다. 물론 성적도 좋아서 기쁘지만, 메달의 색깔을 중요하지 않다고 생각한다며 수업시간에 할 수 없는 것들을 실행해 보며 한 뼘 더 성장한 학생들의 모습을 보니 행복하고 자랑스럽다”고 하였다.

Widuk University announced on the 2nd that at the 2022 KOREA World Food Championship held at the aT Center in Seoul on October 29th, students from the School of Food Service participated in the live course food contest and won 1 gold medal and 2 silver medals.
In a group of 5, 15 students from Widuk University in 3 groups participated in a fierce competition with university students from all over the country live.
Participating dishes received favorable reviews by presenting course meals using various seasonal foods such as duck course dish, jelly using pomegranate, ceviche using shrimp and cucumber, pork dish using sweet pumpkin and garlic, and tangerine mousse. Received the Excellence Award (Commissioner's Award).
4th grader Changhyun Lee, who served as the general team leader, said, “This competition showed good teamwork with 3rd and 4th grade students as team leaders and 1st and 2nd year students participating as team members. I would like to express my gratitude to the juniors of the Cheongmaru club in the Faculty of Food Service Industry at Widuk University who believed in me from the first practice to the end of the contest.”
Professor Lee Ji-hyeon of Widuk University's Department of Food Service Industry said, "It was beautiful to see the students doing their best as they practiced until 12 o'clock at night. Of course, I am happy because my grades are good, but I am happy and proud to see the students who have grown a little more by doing things that they cannot do in class, saying that the color of the medal is not important.”
