【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=위덕대학교 물리치료학과(학과장 이명희)는 최근 대학일자리센터 주관으로 물리치료학과 4학년 학생들을 대상으로 메이틀랜드 도수치료 자격이수 교육 프로그램을 진행했다고 24일 밝혔다.
지난 18일 대한메이틀랜드정형도수물리치료학회에서 강사로 활동 중인 한국국제대학교의 최완석 교수를 초빙해 도수치료기법의 하나인 메이틀랜드 접근법에 대한 교육을 실시했다.
대한메이틀랜드정형도수물리치료학회는 도수치료 분야의 세계적인 권위자이며, 세계정형도수치료연맹(IFOMT)의 공동 설립자인 메이틀랜드(1924∼2010)의 치료개념을 연구·교육하는 국제학술단체의 한국학회다.
위덕대학교 물리치료학과 김경원(4학년) 학생은 “임상에서 접할 수 있는 치료의 기법을 조금 더 빨리 접해볼 수 있는 기회와 함께, 취업에 대한 실질적인 준비를 할 수 있어서 좋았다”며 소감을 밝혔다.

Widuk University Physical Therapy Department, Maitland Manual Therapy Qualification Training
The Department of Physical Therapy at Widuk University (Department Head Myung-Hee Lee) announced on the 24th that it had recently conducted an education program to complete the Maitland Manual Therapy Qualification for 4th-year students in the Department of Physical Therapy under the supervision of the University Job Center.
On the 18th, the Korean Maitland Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy Association invited Professor Choi Wan-seok of Korea International University, who is working as a lecturer, to teach about Maitland's approach, one of the manual therapy techniques.
The Korea Maitland Orthopedic Physical Therapy Society is an international academic research and education on the treatment concept of Maitland (1924~2010), a world authority in the field of manual therapy and co-founder of the International Federation of Orthopedic Manual Therapy (IFOMT). It is the Korean society of the organization.
Kyungwon Kim (4th year) student of the Department of Physical Therapy at Widuk University said, “It was good to have the opportunity to experience the treatment techniques that can be encountered in clinical practice a little sooner and to prepare practically for employment.”
