이번 협약에 따라 양 기관은 보유한 데이터를 상호 연계·활용하고, 이를 기반으로 데이터 분석 과제 협업과 공동 연구를 추진하기로 했다. 이를 통해 국가적 데이터 활용 경쟁력 강화와 국민 편익 제고에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

공단은 현재 기획재정부가 추진하는 ‘공공기관 데이터 협업 우수 과제’에 ‘불용 방사선동위원소 재활용 서비스’가 선정돼 연내 서비스 개시를 목표로 하고 있다.

조성돈 한국원자력환경공단 이사장은 “양 기관이 지속적으로 데이터 공유와 협력을 이어가 데이터 협업의 모범 사례를 만들고, 국민의 삶의 질 향상에 기여하겠다”고 말했다.

Korea Radioactive Waste Agency (KORIA) and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) Sign MOU for Data Sharing and Utilization

KORIA (Chairman Cho Sung-don) and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (Acting President Jeon Dae-wook) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at their headquarters on the 25th to promote data sharing and utilization.

Under this agreement, the two organizations will interconnect and utilize their existing data and, based on this, collaborate on data analysis projects and conduct joint research. This is expected to contribute to strengthening national data utilization competitiveness and enhancing public convenience.

KORIA is currently aiming to launch its "Unused Radioisotope Recycling Service" within the year, having been selected for the "Excellent Public Institution Data Collaboration Project" by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance.

KORIA Chairman Cho Sung-don stated, "Both organizations will continue to share and collaborate on data to establish best practices in data collaboration and contribute to improving the quality of life for the public."
