이번 협약을 통해 양 기관은 ▲방사성폐기물 처분시설 관련 정보·자료의 상호 교환 및 협력 ▲해외시장 진출 전략 수립 및 실행 ▲방사성폐기물 처분시설 건설 사업 글로벌 시장 공동 진출 등 다양한 분야에서 협력하기로 했다.

조성돈 이사장은 “공단의 방사성폐기물 관리 전문성과 한국전력기술의 발전소 설계 역량이 결합되어 해외 시장에서 강력한 경쟁력을 확보하는 계기가 될 것”이라고 기대감을 나타냈다.

이번 협약은 양 기관의 전문성을 융합해 해외 방사성폐기물 관리 및 원전 해체 시장에서 사업 경쟁력과 시너지 효과를 높이는 계기가 될 것으로 전망된다.

Korea Radioactive Waste Agency (KOREA) (Chairman Cho Sung-don) announced on the 30th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Korea Electric Power Engineering & Construction (KEPCO E&C) (President Kim Tae-kyun) in the conference room of the KOREA's Low and Intermediate Level Reactor Business Headquarters to establish strategies for entering overseas markets.

Through this agreement, the two organizations agreed to collaborate in various areas, including: ▲mutual exchange and cooperation of information and data related to radioactive waste disposal facilities; ▲development and implementation of overseas market entry strategies; and ▲joint entry into the global market for radioactive waste disposal facility construction projects.

Chairman Cho Sung-don expressed his expectations, saying, "The combination of KOREA's radioactive waste management expertise and KEPCO E&C's power plant design capabilities will provide an opportunity to secure strong competitiveness in overseas markets."

This agreement is expected to enhance the competitiveness and synergy of both organizations' expertise in the overseas radioactive waste management and nuclear power plant decommissioning markets.
