성주군은 6일 월항면 보암리 소재 배선호 농가에서 올해 첫 참외 수확과 출하가 이뤄졌다고 밝혔다. 이날 출하된 성주참외는 겨울철 강추위와 일조량 부족 등 불리한 기상 여건을 극복하고 수확된 것으로, 아삭한 식감과 엄격한 당도 선별을 통해 성주참외의 명성을 다시 한번 입증했다.

이와 함께 본격 출하 시기에 맞춰 온·오프라인 판촉행사, 대도시 직거래 장터 운영, 온라인몰 연계 판매 등을 확대해 소비자 접근성을 높이고 농가 소득 증대에도 주력할 계획이다.

성주군 관계자는 “이상기후와 어려운 농업 환경 속에서도 정성을 다해 참외를 재배한 농업인들의 노고에 깊이 감사드린다”며 “성주참외가 국내를 넘어 세계 시장에서도 경쟁력을 갖춘 글로벌 명품 농산물로 자리매김할 수 있도록 유통 혁신과 정책적 지원을 지속해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

한편 이날 수확된 첫 성주참외는 가락동 농수산물종합도매시장을 거쳐 전국 대형마트와 온라인 쇼핑몰을 통해 소비자들에게 공급될 예정이다
