【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=대구테크노파크가 인공지능(AI)을 활용한 차세대 스마트 치안 서비스 개발에 본격 착수한다.

(재)대구테크노파크(원장 김한식, 이하 대구TP)는 경찰청 국가 연구개발(R&D) 과제 공모에서 사회적 약자 보호를 위한 ‘디지털 순찰 오픈 플랫폼’ 사업이 최종 선정됐다고 7일 밝혔다.

이번 사업은 고령화 심화와 순찰 인력 감소로 발생하는 치안 공백을 AI 기반 무인·자동화 기술로 보완하기 위해 기획됐으며, 오는 2029년까지 4년간 총 72억 원 규모의 예산이 투입된다.

대구TP를 주관기관으로 한국전자통신연구원(ETRI), 루트랩, 나노아이티, 세종대학교, CNAI 등 산·학·연 주요 기관이 참여하는 컨소시엄이 구성돼 플랫폼 개발과 실증을 공동 추진한다.

특히 기존 CCTV의 단순 영상 제공 기능을 넘어, 분석 결과를 실시간으로 현장 경찰관에게 전달하는 ‘지능형 에이전트’ 기능 구현이 핵심이다. 이를 위해 시각·언어 기반 인공지능 모델(VLM, Vision-Language Model)을 도입해 상황 인지와 대응력을 높일 계획이다.

플랫폼 구축을 통해 ▲피해자 경호 지원 ▲지능형 드론 기반 생활안전 순찰(도시형·농촌형) ▲사회적 약자 안심 귀갓길 서비스 등 다양한 치안 서비스가 제공될 예정이다.

또한 표준화된 오픈 API 기반 플랫폼을 구축해 지역 내 AI·드론 스타트업이 치안 서비스에 기술을 손쉽게 접목하고 실증할 수 있는 혁신 생태계 조성에도 나선다.

대구TP는 사업의 실효성을 높이기 위해 대구자치경찰위원회와 협력해 현장 수요를 기술 개발에 반영하고, 개발된 서비스를 지역 맞춤형 치안 정책으로 연계하는 체계도 구축할 계획이다.

김희대 대구TP 지능도시본부장은 “이번 과제 선정은 대구시가 디지털 전환 기반 스마트 치안 도시로 도약할 수 있는 기반을 마련한 것”이라며 “시민의 일상을 안전하게 지키는 치안 혁신 모델로 자리매김할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

Daegu TP Selected for ‘Digital Patrol Open Platform’ R&D Project… AI-Based Smart Policing to Begin in Earnest

Daegu Technopark is set to begin full-scale development of next-generation smart policing services utilizing artificial intelligence (AI).

Daegu Technopark (President Kim Han-sik, hereinafter Daegu TP) announced on the 7th that its ‘Digital Patrol Open Platform’ project, designed to protect vulnerable members of society, was finally selected in the National Police Agency’s open call for national R&D projects.

This project was planned to address security gaps caused by deepening population aging and a decrease in patrol personnel using AI-based unmanned and automated technologies, with a total budget of 7.2 billion won to be invested over four years until 2029.

A consortium has been formed with Daegu TP as the lead organization, involving major institutions from industry, academia, and research such as the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Root Lab, Nano IT, Sejong University, and CNAI, to jointly promote platform development and demonstration. In particular, the core of the project is the implementation of an "Intelligent Agent" function that goes beyond the simple video provision capabilities of existing CCTVs to deliver analysis results to field police officers in real time. To achieve this, plans include introducing a Vision-Language Model (VLM) to enhance situational awareness and responsiveness.

Through the establishment of this platform, various public safety services are expected to be provided, including victim protection support, intelligent drone-based public safety patrols (urban and rural types), and safe return-home services for the socially vulnerable.

Furthermore, the project aims to foster an innovation ecosystem by building a standardized open API-based platform, enabling local AI and drone startups to easily integrate and demonstrate their technologies for public safety services.

To enhance the effectiveness of the project, Daegu TP plans to collaborate with the Daegu Autonomous Police Commission to incorporate field needs into technology development and establish a system to link the developed services to region-specific public safety policies. Kim Hee-dae, Head of the Intelligent City Division at Daegu TP, stated, “The selection of this project has laid the foundation for Daegu to leap forward as a smart security city based on digital transformation,” adding, “We will do our utmost to establish this as an innovative security model that safely protects the daily lives of citizens.”
