박근혜 전 대통령의 사면 소식이 전해지자 고향인 TK에서는 일부를 제외하고 일제히 환영의 목소리가 나왔다.

그동안 박 전 대통령의 석방을 주장해 온 우리공화당 조원진 대표는 “늦었지만 환영한다”면서 박 전 대통령이 입원해 있는 서울의 모 병원 앞에서 사면 축하와 건강을 기원하는 집회를 예고하고 있다고 밝혔다.

박 전 대통령에 대하여 오락가락 평가로 비난을 받았던 홍준표 국민의힘 의원은 사면 소식이 전해지자 "만시지탄(晩時之歎)"이라고 말했다.

홍 의원은 이날 자신이 운영하는 2040 청년소통 플랫폼 '청년의꿈'에 올라온 '박근혜 사면 어떻게 보십니까' 질문에 이같이 답변했다. 그는 지난 당 경선 과정에서는 “대통령이 되면 이명박 박근혜 두 전직 대통령을 사면하겠다”고 했다. 이보다 앞서서는 자신이 당 대표 시절 출당 조치를 한 것을 두고서는 "당원 여러분의 마음을 아프게 해 진심으로 용서를 구한다"고 말한 바 있다. 

대표적 친박으로 분류되는 김재원 국민의힘 최고위원은 "청와대가 박 전 대통령 사면을 통해 대통령 선거에 영향을 미치려는 불순한 의도가 있다고 해도 야권에서 해결할 몫"이라며 "뭉치면 살고 흩어지면 죽는다"고 했다. 그러면서 “늘 마음 한구석을 짓누르고 있던 바윗돌이 치워지는 느낌"이라고 덧붙였다. 김 최고위원은 또, 문 대통령 남은 임기 중 두 분의 전직 대통령에 대한 완전한 사면과 복권을 요구해 눈길을 끌었다.

국민의힘 대구시당은 이날 논평을 내고 “박근혜 전 대통령에 대한 특별사면, 늦었지만 환영한다”며 “오랜 수감 생활로 인한 지병으로 건강이 매우 좋지 않은 것으로 알려졌는데, 하루 빨리 건강을 회복하기를 기원한다”고 했다. 그러면서 “국민대통합을 위해 국민의힘은 더욱 노력하겠다”면서 “이명박 전 대통령에 대한 사면도 국민통합 차원에서 조속히 결단해 달라”고 문재인 대통령에 촉구했다. 

민주당 대구시당도 논평을 내고 “문재인 대통령의 뜻을 존중한다”면서 “사면을 반대하는 분들의 마음 또한 모르지는 않지만 이러한 결정을 내리기까지 문재인 대통령이 안고 있었을 고뇌 또한 헤아릴 수 없을 만큼 깊고 무거웠을 것”이라고 밝혔다. 

그러면서 “더불어민주당 대구시당은 대통령의 힘든 결정을 존중하며 대한민국이 국민대통합의 새 시대를 열고 코로나19로 어려운 민생안정을 살피는데 모든 국력을 모을 수 있기를 희망한다”고 밝혔다. 

징보당과 정의당은 일제히 비난에 나섰다. 이석기 의원이 명단에 포함된 진보당은 “문재인 정부의 박근혜 사면 결정은 촛불 민심을 정면으로 배신하는 행위”라고 규정하고 “그의 국정농단으로 질식된 민주주의를 되살리고자 '이게 나라냐'는 울분으로써 연일 촛불을 들었던 대구시민들의 자존심도 이로써 무너졌다”고 반대의사를 분명히 했다. 그러면서도 내란음모죄로 실형을 받고 수감됐던 이석기 전 의원의 석방을 두고서는 “환영한다”는 입장을 내 상반된 모습을 보였다. 

정의당 대구시당도 진보당과 비슷한 논평을 내놨다.
