내란 선동 혐의로 수감생활을 이어온 이석기 전 통합진보당 의원이 24일 오전 출소를 앞둔 가운데 진보당 경북도당이 환영의 입장을 밝혔다.
진보당 경북도당은 이날 오전 입장문을 통해 “마침내 이석기 의원이 가석방으로 출소한다”면서 “이 의원은 박근혜 정권의 정치탄압 최대 피해자”라고 말했다.
이어 “8년 3개월 20일이라는 긴 시간 동안 억울한 옥살이 끝에 석방을 환영한다”는 말을 덧붙였다.
그러면서도 “사면복권이 아니라 가석방인 점에 분노하지 않을 수 없다”고 강조했다.
사면과 달리 가석방은 수감 상태에서 풀려나는 것일 뿐 형 집행은 계속되는 것이며 정지된 자격을 회복하는 복권 조치 등이 없기 때문에 이 전 의원은 향후 남은 형기 1년 5개월과 자격정지 7년을 합쳐 8년 5개월간 피선거권이 제한된다.
이에 진보당 경북도당은 “이석기 전 의원의 사면복권이 우리사회에서 낡은 색깔론인 종북몰이 마녀사냥을 종식하고 인권과 민주주의, 정의를 실현하는 길”이라고 거듭 강조하며 신속한 사면복권을 촉구했다.
