경주시는 일조량이 풍부한 청정지역 경주에서 자라 과일 빛깔이 좋고 당도와 산도 조화가 최상급인 감귤 경주봉이 설을 앞두고 본격 출하됐다고 19일 밝혔다.

경주시농산물산지유통센터의 까다로운 관리를 거쳐 우수한 품질을 자랑하는 경주봉은 특유의 새콤달콤한 맛으로 전국에서 높은 인기를 누리고 있다.

출하가격은 1㎏당 8000원~1만원으로 다가오는 설 명절 선물용으로 손색이 없다.

경주시는 기후 변화에 대응하고 농가소득을 높이기 위해 2010년대 초반부터 남부지역에서 재배되고 있던 감귤류를 지역 농가에 보급한 바 있다.

이후 품질 향상을 위한 재배기술 보급, 다양한 판매 전략 수립 등 노력을 지속해 현재 24개 농가가 9.5㏊ 면적에서 재배하고 있다.

권연남 농업기술센터 소장은 “기후변화로 인해 아열대작물 재배에 나서는 농가가 늘어나고 있다”며, “이에 발맞춰 재배시설 개선 등 적극적인 지원으로 농가 소득 향상에 기여하도록 할 것”이라고 말했다.
