경주시는 11일 한국관광데이터랩 통계를 인용하며, 지난 10월 1일부터 11월 4일까지 약 한 달간 경주를 찾은 외지인 방문객이 589만 6,309명으로 집계됐다고 밝혔다. 이는 지난해 같은 기간 479만 8,838명 대비 22.8% 증가한 수치다.

특히 외국인 방문객은 20만 6,602명으로 전년 동기(15만 2,363명)보다 35.6%나 급증해 국제적 관심이 크게 확대된 것으로 분석된다.

주요 관광지별로는 황리단길과 대릉원 일대 방문객이 118만 6,714명으로 지난해 96만 4,653명 대비 23% 증가했다. 동궁과 월지의 입장객 역시 24만 2,522명으로 5.6% 늘어나 전반적으로 관광지 활기가 높아졌다.

경주시는 이러한 변화가 ‘APEC 효과’가 본격적으로 나타난 결과라고 설명했다. 정상회의 기간 동안 본행사, 기업인자문위원회, 문화공연, 미디어 취재 등 다양한 국제행사가 잇달아 열리면서 경주 전역이 세계의 조명을 받았다.

특히 황리단길과 대릉원은 각국 정상단과 외신 기자들의 방문 코스로 꼽히며 SNS와 해외 언론을 통해 널리 소개됐다. 천년고도의 역사적 감성과 전통이 어우러진 거리 풍경은 외국인 관광객 증가로 직결된 것으로 보인다.

Gyeongju, hosting the 2025 APEC Summit and attracting global attention, has seen a significant increase in tourists.

Citing statistics from the Korea Tourism Data Lab, Gyeongju City announced on the 11th that 5,896,309 foreign visitors visited the city between October 1 and November 4. This represents a 22.8% increase compared to the 4,798,838 visitors in the same period last year.

In particular, the number of foreign visitors surged by 35.6% to 206,602 compared to the same period last year (152,363), demonstrating a significant increase in international interest.

In particular, Hwangnidan-gil and Daereungwon Royal Tomb were popular destinations for heads of state and foreign journalists, receiving extensive coverage on social media and in the international press. The streetscape, steeped in the historical sensibility and traditions of the millennium-old capital, appears to have directly contributed to the increase in foreign tourists.

Even after the event, tourists continued to flock to the city center on weekends, and the Hwangnidan-gil commercial district is experiencing a revitalized boom.
