【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=반기문 국가기후협의회 위원장이 24일 대구에서 열린 ‘2022세계가스총회 첫 번째 오프닝 기조연설’에서 이같이 호소했다. 

제8대 유엔 사무총장이자 현재 한국 국가기구인 대통령 직속 ‘국가기후환경회의’ 위원장과 국제기구인 ‘글로벌녹생성장기구(GGGI)’의장을 겸하고 있는 반기문 전 유엔(UN)사무총장은 24일 ‘탄소중립을 향한 지속 가능한 에너지전환(A SUSTAINABLE ENERGY TRANSITION TOWARDS CARBON NEUTRALITY)’을 주제로 한 오프닝 기조연설(OPENING KEYNOTE)에서 “탄소 배출에 따른 지구 온난화를 늦추기 위해서는 선진국이 주도하고 개발도상국들이 함께 할 수 있는 방안을 강구해야 한다.”고 주장했다. 

그는 에너지 산업의 탄소중립을 위해 청정에너지의 역할을 강조하며, 그중에서도 천연가스 분야가 중요한 역할을 수행 할 수 있어야 한다고   강조했다. 

이를 위해서는 “세계가스총회에서 참여자들 간 혜안을 통해 탄소중립을 달성할 수 있는 방안이 반드시 모색되어야 할 것”이라고 거듭 강조하고, 지속가능한 지구를 위해 전 인류가 적극적으로 나서야 할 것이라고 말했다.
