【브레이크뉴스 】박은정 기자= 제28회 대구세계가스총회가 24일 오전 10시 대구 엑스코에서 개막한다.
세계가스총회는 가스 산업의 최고 권위의 행사로 아시아에서는 일본(도쿄, 2003), 말레이시아(쿠알라룸푸르, 2012)에 이어 세 번째로 대한민국에서 개최된다.
이날 개회식에는 권영진 대구시장, 강주명 국제가스연맹(IGU) 회장, 박봉규 세계가스총회조직위원장을 비롯해 각국 각료, 국내외 글로벌 에너지 기업 대표, 전문가 등 1,700여 명이 참석한다.
개회식은 반딧불이와 아이들이 대구에서 함께 미래를 열어가는 주제영상을 시작으로 강주명 국제가스연맹(IGU)의 개회사, 채희봉 공동조직위원장의 환영사 등으로 이뤄진다.
주요 내빈으로는 반기문 제8대 유엔사무총장, 리 얄란 국제가스연맹(IGU) 부회장, 마크 브라운스타인 환경방어기금(EDF) 수석 부사장, 조셉 맥모니글 국제에너지포럼(IEF) 사무총장, 페드로 미라스 살라망카 세계석유총회(WPC) 사무총장, 임기택 국제해사기구(IMO) 사무총장, 데메트리오스 파파타나시오우 세계은행(The World Bank) 글로벌 디렉터, 제임스 로콜 세계LPG 협회 CEO 등이 참석한다.
또한 이날 같이 개막하는 전시회에는 미국의 쉘(Shell), 쉐브론(Chevron), 엑손 모빌(Exxonmobil), 영국의 BP(British Petroleum), 일본의 미쯔비시를 비롯해 카타르, 오만, 말레이시아, 가나, 인도 등 굴지의 글로벌 에너지업체들도 한 자리에 모인다.
이번 총회는 24일 개막식을 시작으로 기조발표, 정상대담, 현안토론, 부대회의 등의 다양한 세션이 27일까지 이어지며 최근 글로벌 화두로 떠오른 에너지 안보를 비롯해 기후변화, 탄소중립 등의 굵직한 현안들이 핵심주제로 논의될 예정이다.

Key guests include Ban Ki-moon, 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations, Lee Yalan, Vice-President of the International Gas Federation (IGU), Mark Brownstein, Senior Vice President of the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), Joseph McMonigl, Secretary-General of the International Energy Forum (IEF), and Pedro Miras. World Petroleum Conference (WPC) Secretary-General Salamanca (WPC) Secretary-General Ki-Taek Lim, International Maritime Organization (IMO) Secretary-General, Demetrios Papattanasiou, Global Director of The World Bank, and James Rocole, CEO of World LPG Association will attend.
In addition, the exhibition opening on the same day includes Shell, Chevron, Exxonmobil, British Petroleum, Mitsubishi, Qatar, Oman, Malaysia, Ghana, and India. Global energy companies are also gathering in one place.
Starting with the opening ceremony on the 24th, various sessions such as keynote presentations, summit talks, discussion of current issues, and side meetings will be held until the 27th. The topic will be discussed.
