【브레이크뉴스 대구】박은정 기자=한국건강관리협회(회장 김인원, 이하 건협)와 굿네이버스 인터내셔날(이사장 이일하)은‘ 지난 10월 8일부터 16일까지 카메룬 야운데(Yaounde) 지역에 소외열대질환사업 성과관리 모니터링단을 파견했다고 25일 밝혔다.
건협에 따르면 이번 사업은 2022년부터 2024년까지 총 3년 동안 한국 대외무상원조 전담기관인 한국국제협력단(KOICA, 이사장 손혁상)과 민관협력사업으로 진행되고 있는 사업이다.
식수위생시설 건축 및 개보수, 주민주도형 위생행동 개선활동 및 기생충증 집단투약 등을 통한 카메룬 야운데 지역의 기생충증 유병률 감소를 목표로 하고 있다.
파견된 모니터링단은 이번 사업의 수혜 초등학교 4개교를 방문해 식수 위생시설을 점검하고, 세계 손씻기의 날을 기념하여 현지 초등학생 식수위생 인식개선 활동을 진행했다.
또 파견기간 동안 주카메룬 대한민국 대사관을 방문해 KOICA 카메룬 사무소 간담회, 카메룬 보건부 간담회 등에 참석하여 사업 성과관리 및 사업운영 고도화 방안을 논의했다.
간담회에서 카메룬 보건부 산하 소외열대질환관리청장 Tchuenté 교수는 “이번 사업을 통해 집단투약 투약자 교육, 보건인식 개선 활동 등을 지원해준 한국건강관리협회와 굿네이버스 인터내셔날에 감사하다"며" 카메룬 중앙주 기생충 유병률 감소를 위해 보건부도 협력하겠다.”고 말했다.
건협 김인원 회장은 “현지 식수위생시설 건축‧개보수를 통해 깨끗한 위생환경을 제공하고, 지역주민‧초등학생의 보건인식도를 높여 기생충 유병률 감소에 기여할 수 있도록 노력하겠다.”고 밝혔다.
