대구시에 따르면 해당 노선에는 23일 오후 7시 35분 KE1433편 운항을 시작으로 140석 규모의 항공기가 매주 7회 운항할 계획인 것으로 알려졌다. 

지금까지 대구·경북 시도민들이 미주·유럽 등 해외여행을 위해 인천공항을 가려면 4~5시간 고속버스를 타거나, KTX를 타고 여러 번 환승하는 등 번거로움이 많았다.

특히, 오전 시간대 항공편을 이용하는 지역민들은 꼭두새벽부터 서둘러 일정을 시작해야 하는 불편함이 많아 이번 내항기 운항 재개로  항공 교통의 불편을 완화하고 이동시간 절약은 물론 인천공항 환승 편의성도 좋아질 것으로 기대되고 있다.

배석주 대구광역시 통합신공항건설본부장은 “대한항공의 내항기가 3년 만에 재개한 것을 환영한다”면서 “항공사 및 공항공사 등과 협력하여 코로나로 인해 줄었던 국제노선이 금년도 말까지 정상화될 수 있도록 하고, 2030년 개항 예정인 신공항에서는 미주·유럽을 직항할 수 있는 체계를 갖추도록 하겠다”라고 말했다.
