【브레이크뉴스 경주】이성현 기자=경상북도와 경북문화관광공사(사장 김남일)는 지난 4일, 문화체육관광부 국제관광과를 방문해 ‘2026 아시아태평양관광협회(PATA) 연차총회’의 성공적인 개최를 위한 국비 5억 원 지원을 공식 요청했다고 밝혔다.

이번 방문에는 김남일 경북문화관광공사 사장과 임채완 경북도 관광정책과장이 함께 참여해, 총회의 추진 배경과 준비 현황을 설명하고, 지역경제 활성화 및 글로벌 관광 네트워크 구축 효과를 강조했다.

문체부는 경북도의 요청에 대해 국비 5억 원 지원 방침을 밝히고, 기획재정부와의 협의 절차에 착수한 것으로 전해졌다.

‘2026 PATA 연차총회’는 2025 APEC 정상회의(경주 개최) 이후 조성될 공공환영시설(PRS), APEC 기업관, 야간 경관개선사업 등과 연계해 추진되는 Post-APEC 전략사업의 핵심으로 꼽힌다.

총회는 경주와 포항에서 이원 개최되며, 개회식, 메인 컨퍼런스, 라운드테이블, 환영 만찬 등의 공식 일정 외에도 △역사문화 체험 △산업관광 △전통예술공연 등 문화 체험형 부대행사가 다채롭게 마련될 예정이다.

특히, ‘5韓 체험존’, 신라문화 기반 전통 공연, K-컬처 전시, 글로벌 홍보대사 위촉 등은 전통과 현대가 어우러진 콘텐츠로 구성되어 외빈들에게 한국의 문화적 매력을 깊이 전달할 수 있도록 기획됐다.

김남일 사장은 “이번 총회는 경북이 Post-APEC 시대 글로벌 관광 네트워크의 중심지로 도약하는 전환점이 될 것”이라며 “문체부, 경북도와 긴밀히 협력해 대한민국 관광의 위상을 높이겠다”고 밝혔다.

경북도는 이번 총회를 통해 경주 보문관광단지를 비롯한 지역 관광 인프라와 APEC 관련 시설 간 시너지 효과를 창출하고, 외국인 관광객 유입 확대, 숙박·교통·전시 등 지역 관광산업 전반의 파급효과가 클 것으로 기대하고 있다.

President Kim Nam-il said, “This general meeting will be a turning point for Gyeongbuk to leap forward as the center of the global tourism network in the post-APEC era,” and added, “We will work closely with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Gyeongbuk Province to elevate the status of Korean tourism.”

Gyeongbuk Province expects that this general meeting will create synergy effects between regional tourism infrastructure, including the Gyeongju Bomun Tourist Complex, and APEC-related facilities, and that it will have a significant ripple effect on the overall regional tourism industry, including the expansion of the influx of foreign tourists and accommodation, transportation, and exhibitions.
