경북문화관광공사(사장 김남일)는 국가무형유산인 해녀들의 문화를 보존·전승하기 위한 ‘경북(포항)-제주 해녀 교류 및 울릉도·독도 탐방’ 행사를 5월 29일부터 31일까지 성공적으로 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이 행사는 ‘제29회 바다의 날’(5월31일)을 계기로 동해와 어촌공동체를 지켜온 포항시가 주최하고, 경북문화관광공사가 주관했다. 지난 2022년 경북도와 제주도의 ‘해양인문 교류 및 섬 생태관광 활성화를 위한 업무협약’에 따른 사업으로 올해 3년째 이어오고 있다.

그동안은 경북도가 제주 해녀를 포항으로 초청해 경북 해녀와 교류했고, 울릉도는 제주 해녀만 방문했었다. 두 지역 해녀의 역사성을 잇는 울릉도에서는 올해 처음으로 양도 해녀가 함께 시간을 가져 그 의미가 크다.

이번 탐방단은 경북해녀협회 소속 경북해녀합창단과 1970년대 울릉도에서 ‘물질’(나잠어업) 했던 제주해녀 등 30여 명으로 이뤄졌다.
