【브레이크뉴스】이성현 기자=더불어민주당 당대표 선거에 출마한 박찬대 의원이 윤여준 전 환경부 장관을 후원회장으로 위촉했다. 그동안 후원회장을 맡아온 이재명 대통령이 대통령직에 오른 데 따른 인선이다.

박 의원실은 11일 “당대표 출마에 따른 후원금 모금 계좌를 개설하고, 윤여준 전 장관이 새 후원회장으로 참여하게 됐다”고 밝혔다.

박 의원의 후원회장은 당초 2022년 8월 이재명 당시 의원이 맡아왔다. 당시 박 의원이 최고위원 후보로 출마했을 때다. 그러나 대통령에 취임한 이재명 후원회장이 계속 직책을 유지하는 것은 적절치 않다는 판단에 따라 교체를 결정한 것이다.

박 의원은 “이재명 대통령과 함께한 인사들이 많지만, 상징성과 대표성을 고려해 윤여준 전 장관께 부탁드렸고 흔쾌히 수락해주셨다”며 감사를 표했다.

윤 전 장관은 김대중 정부 시절 청와대 공보수석, 환경부 장관 등을 역임했으며, 정치권 안팎에서 온건 보수와 개혁 이미지를 동시에 갖춘 인물로 평가받는다. 이에 따라 박찬대 의원의 당대표 선거 캠페인에 외연 확장 효과와 전략적 시너지가 기대된다.

박 의원 측은 “윤 전 장관과 함께 당의 통합과 변화, 개혁을 주도해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

Rep. Park Chan-dae, who is running for the Democratic Party of Korea leadership, has appointed former Minister of Environment Yoon Yeo-joon as chairman of the support group.
