【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=더불어민주당 8·2 전당대회를 앞두고 당대표 선거전이 본격화된 가운데, 박찬대 의원이 14일 대구를 찾아 본격적인 표밭 다지기에 나섰다. 

이번 전당대회는 중도 확장과 안정적 리더십을 내세운 박찬대 의원과 강성 지지층의 확고한 기반을 가진 정청래 의원의 양자 대결 구도로 전개되고 있다.

이날 박 의원은 대구 지역 당원 간담회에서 “이재명 정부를 성공시키기 위해 당·정부·대통령이 하나의 팀이 돼야 한다”며 “무모한 윤석열 정권과 싸워온 경험을 바탕으로 개혁을 유능하고 신속하게 완수하겠다”고 말했다. 특히 수도권과 호남에 편중된 당 지지 기반을 넘어서기 위해 “충청, 강원, 영남권까지 아우르는 성과 중심의 정치가 필요하다”고 강조했다.

전당대회 이후 당대표에 오르면 곧바로 ‘지방선거 기획단’을 발족해 내년 6월 지방선거 준비에 돌입하겠다는 구상도 밝혔다. 그는 “예측 가능한 공천 룰과 지역 맞춤형 공약을 마련하고, 대통령 공약 이행 TF를 통해 대구·경북 지역의 현안과 민심을 담아내겠다”고 밝혔다. 박 의원은 영남 출신 인재를 적극 등용해 지역 기반 확장에 나서겠다는 방침도 내놨다.

정청래 의원과의 차별성도 부각했다. “정청래 의원은 개인 역량이 뛰어난 분이지만, 저는 1년 넘게 원내대표로서 팀 전체의 승리를 이끈 경험이 있다”며 “저는 스타 플레이어보다 팀을 감독하고 조율하는 리더”라고 자신을 소개했다. 또 “당정청이 하나로 움직이는 원팀 구성을 위해선 중도 확장성과 균형감 있는 리더십이 필요하다”고 덧붙였다.

정청래 의원은 강성 지지층 사이에서 ‘사이다 발언’으로 인기를 끌며 당내 존재감을 키워왔고, 최근에는 강한 개혁 드라이브와 이재명 대표와의 정치적 유대를 내세우며 당권 도전에 나섰다. 반면 박찬대 의원은 이재명 대표 체제에서 수석대변인과 원내대표를 지낸 ‘실무형 리더’로, 안정감 있는 조직 관리 능력을 앞세우고 있다.

Recently, he has challenged for the party leadership, emphasizing his strong reform drive and political ties with Chairman Lee Jae-myung. On the other hand, Rep. Park Chan-dae is a “practical leader” who served as chief spokesperson and floor leader under Chairman Lee Jae-myung, and is emphasizing his ability to manage a stable organization.
