26일 대구시청 산격청사에서 홍준표 대구시장과의 면담 직후 기자들을 만난 원 전 장관은 “홍 시장이 한 달간 진행될 선거에서 특히 나경원 후보와 척지지 말라고 했다”며 “방향과 생각 그리고 정치 경험이 공통된 부분이 많으니까 서로 잘 협력하고 좀 힘을 합쳐서가라고 하셨다”고 전했다.
