5일 오후 2시, 박정희 대통령 생가에서 열린 출정식은 윤상현 의원의 생가 영정 참배, 박정희 대통령 동상 참배, 국민의례, 경과보고, 격려사, 출마의 변 등의 순으로 진행되었다.

이날 행사에는 윤상현 의원 지지자들이 전국에서 모여 성황을 이루었다. 이 가운데 윤상현 의원은 출마의 변을 통해 어머니의 고향이 의성임을 언급하며 경북과의 인연을 강조했다.

그러면서 “젊은 시절 충청남도 청양에서 또 경상북도 의성에 심지어 대구에서 출마하라는 제의를 받았지만 수도권에서 정치적 홀로 서기를 이룩했다. 수도권에서 개척지를 여는 것이 우리 당을 위한 진정 우리 당을 위 한 충정이라고 믿었다.”고 말했다.

그는 “국민의힘의 심장은 대구‧경북이고 팔다리는 수도권.”이라면서 “싸움은 심장이 아니라 팔다리로 하는 것.”이라고 말했다.

이어 윤상현 의원은 “정치를 바로 세우기 위해서는 바로 우리 정당부터 바로 세워야한다. 그래서 제가 국민의힘 당 대표에 출마하고자 선언하는 것.”이라면서 “박근혜 대통령 탄핵, 친박 학살, 공천 학살 등의 뺄셈 정치가 우리 당과 우리 대한민국을 망친 것.”이라고 꼬집었다.

그러면서 “이제 우리는 뺄셈 정치의 dna를 배격하고 새로운 덧셈 정치의 dna를 반드시 이 당에 투입시켜야 한다.”며 “당 내에 서로 다른 의견이 있더라도 서로 상대방의 의견을 존중하고 상생 화합하면서 덧셈의 정치로 반드시 원 팀을 이뤄내야 한다.”고 강조했다.

윤상현 의원은 “수도권 싸움에 능한 저와 함께 수도권으로 진격하자.”고 목소리를 높이며 “제가 최전선에서 멋진 승리를 안겨드리겠다.”며 포부를 밝혔다.

아울러 그는 “당의 심장인 영남에 계신 당원 동지 여러분과 국민 여러분께서 영남에 한정된 국민의힘이 아니라 수도권에서 강한 국민의힘을 만들어 달라.”며 “영남권에 가둬두는 것이 아니라 수도권으로 진격하는 지도부를 만들어 달라.”고 지지를 호소했다.
