【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=국민의힘 윤상현 국회의원은 10일 ‘아시아포럼 21’과 처음 가진 릴레이토론회에서 외교와 북한 김정은 위원장에 대한 소견을 첫 인사말로 대신했다. 

윤 의원은 10여 년이 넘는 긴 시간 동안 외통위에서 활동했다. 북한에 대하여 누구보다 잘 알 수밖에 없는 몇 안되는 현역 국회의원이다. 그 때문인지 이날 윤 의원의 질의응답 내용은 대북 관련 안보 정책 분야가 상대적으로 많았다. 

일단 윤 의원이 김정은 위원장을 첫 화두로 제시한 것은 문재인 정부의 대북 정책 실패를 수면 위로 끄집어냄과 동시에 다른 당권 도전자들과도 확실한 차별성을 가지려는 의도로 해석된다.

윤 의원은 기조 발제에 이어 당권 도전과 관련해서는 “지난 정부에서 정치가 날조가 많이 날조됐다”며 “그래서 국민들께서 정권 교체를 원하셨고, 그걸 윤석열 대통령을 통해 이뤘다. 그러나 온전한 정권교체는 다가오는 총선에서의 과반 이상의 확보라고 봐야 한다”고 말했다. 

그는 국민의힘의 총선 승리에 대하여 다소 비관적으로 보았다. 윤 의원은 “우리가 정권 교체는 했지만, 지금 우리의 모습은 과연 1년 반 앞으로 다가온 총선에서 승리할 수 있을까라는 의문이 든다”며 “윤석열 정부로부터 민심이 떠나고 있는 것 같다. 내 지역구에서는 이러한 모습이 여실히 느껴진다. 정말 절실하고 절박한 상황”이라고 강조했다. 

그러면서 “민주당 지도부는 이재명 대표가 60이 안됐다. 다른 이들도 젊고 심지어 39세 도 있다. 우리가 싸워야 하는 곳은 121석이나 되는 수도권이다. 이곳에 우리는 17석의 국회의원만 보유하고 있다. 나머지는 민주당이 장악하고 있다” 며 “반면에 우리는 어떤가. 주호영 원내대표 말뚝만 박으면 당선되는 TK 출신이다. 정진석 비대위원장 충남이다. 이대로라면 우리가 총선에서 승리하기 어렵다. 그래서 나서보려고 한다”고 말했다. 

그는 국민의힘의 당면한 현안에 대하여 “우리 당이 처한 문제는 대통령과 당의 콘트롤타워를 할 만한 인물이 부재하고 총대를 메는 사람이 없다는 것”이라고 진단했다. 그러면서 “그럼 왜 윤상현이어야 하는가? (윤상현은) 수도권을 잘 알고, (윤상현은) 가슴으로 정치하며, (윤상현은) 윤석열 대통령과도 소통이 가능할 뿐 아니라, (윤상현은) 누가 뭐라고 해도 할말은 하는....그래서 민심을 대통령에 제대로 전달할 수 있는 사람이기 때문“이라고 말했다.

윤 의원은 또 ”민주당과 우리 당의 차이는 이념성에서 떨어지는 것“이라고도 했다. 그는 ”조국과 추미애 사태만 봐도 민주당은 말도 안되는 논리를 펴며 서로를 옹호해주고 지켜준다. 그러나 우리는 툭하면 탈당하라 하고, 문제 생기면 빼버리는 지극히 이익을 위한 뺄셈 정치만 하고 있다. 박근혜 전 대통령의 탄핵이 대표적이다. 또, 이준석 문제도 뺼셈 아니냐. 여기에 자유주의 민주주의에 대한 이념과 좌표도 없다. 여의도연구원은 선거 낙선한 사람 자리 메우는 전리품으로 변질했다. 우리는 윤 대통령도, 윤 핵관도, 이준석도 다 필요하다“며 통합과 배려를 강조했다.

TK, 차기 총선에서는 자긍심 가질 수 있는 후보를 선택하라

윤 의원은 대구시민들이 차기 총선에서는 시민 스스로가 자긍심을 느낄 수 있는 후보를 선택해야 한다고 조언했다. 

그는 ”TK는 공천은 곧 당선인 곳이다. 대구지역 국회의원 전부 국민의힘 아닌가. 경북도 그렇고. 대구지역 국회의원들께서 지역발전에 대한 자긍심은 있을지 몰라도 정치인으로서의 역할은 잘못하는 것 같다. 어디 제 목소리 내는 대구 국회의원 있나, 국정 현안에 목소리 내는 사람 한 사람도 없다. 왜 그런가. 공천이 곧 당선이니 누구한테도 척 안질려고만 한다“고 꼬집었다. 

그러면서 ”TK의 정서와 수도권 정서는 너무나 다르다. 국민들의 정서도 다르다. 우리 수도권의 국회의원들은 너무나도 절박하고 절실하다. 대구시민들....맨날 GRDP 꼴찌라는 그 소리를 들어오지 않았나. 다음 총선에서는 제발 지역발전 선도하고, 중앙에서도 목소리 내는 사람으로 충원해야 한다“고 대구시민들의 각성을 촉구했다.

윤 의원은 현 양당의 극한 대립과 관련해 중대선거구제에 대한 소견을 묻는 질문에는 ”우리나라는 근본적으로 권력 분산형 개헌이 필요하다“고 강조하고 ”국회가 가장 타협하지 못하는 집단이 됐다. 이들 국회의원들을 위해 권력 분산은 반드시 필요하다“고 거듭 강조했다. 

다만 그는 ”우리의 경우, 중대선거제의 가장 큰 장애는 강력한 지역주의“라면서 ”증대선거구제 같은 권력 분산으로 가야 하는데 현실적으로는 어렵다“고 말했다.
