【브레이크뉴스 경북】진예솔 기자=경북교육청은 11일과 13일, 포항과 구미에서 ‘2026학년도 특수교육대상학생 상급학교 입학 설명회’를 성공적으로 마무리했다. 

이번 설명회는 동남권역 포항교육지원청 여울관과 서북권역 구미 새마을운동테마공원 글로벌관에서 열렸으며, 특수교육지원센터 및 학교 담당교사 300여 명이 참석해 현장의 관심을 모았다.

이번 설명회는 특수교육대상학생 선정과 배치 업무 연수, 그리고 내년도 추진 계획 안내에 초점을 맞췄다. 학생의 장애 유형과 정도, 보호자 의견, 통학 거리 등을 종합적으로 고려해 개별 학생에게 적합한 교육 환경을 제공하는 공정한 절차가 중점적으로 소개됐다.

특히 ‘근거리 배치 기준’을 명확히 안내하며, 학생들이 통학에 불편함 없이 거주지 인근 학교에 우선 배치될 수 있도록 강조했다. 이를 통해 현장 교사들의 입학 업무 부담을 줄이고, 학생과 학부모의 불안을 해소하는 데 큰 도움이 됐다는 평가가 나왔다.

설명회에 참석한 한 중학교 교사는 “그동안 상급학교 입학 절차가 복잡하고 막막했는데, 이번 설명회를 통해 배치 절차와 기준을 명확히 이해할 수 있었다”며 “앞으로 학생들에게 더 실질적인 지원을 할 수 있을 것 같다”고 소감을 밝혔다.

임종식 경북교육감은 “장애 학생들도 차별 없이 자신의 미래를 설계할 수 있어야 한다”며 “공정하고 투명한 선정·배치 과정을 통해 학생 개개인의 특성을 고려한 맞춤형 특수교육이 실현될 수 있도록 지속적으로 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
