【브레이크뉴스 경북 】이성현 기자=원희룡 국토교통부 장관이 8일 구미를 방문해 구미상공회의소가 주최한 조찬 특강을 했다.

지역 현안 청취의 시간이기도 한 이날 특강에서 원 장관은  ‘지방이 미래다! 기업투자가 몰리는 대한민국의 구미’라는 주제로 지역 기업에 대하여 설명했다.

특강에 이어 김장호 구미시장과의 면담을 가진 원 장관은 김 시장으로부터  지역의 중요 현안사업 중 하나인 KTX 구미역 정차에 대한 필요성과 남부내륙철도와의 연계에 대한 이야기를 전해 들었다.

김 시장은 이밖에 통합신공항과의 접근성 향상을 위한 ▲통합신공항 대구경북선 ‘동구미역’신설, ▲‘김천JC~낙동JC‘중부내륙고속도로 확장, ▲’구미 역후광장 지하주차장‘운영 재개, ▲’국도33호선~5산단~신공항‘국도(지선) 지정, ▲국도33호선~25호선 연결 국도(지선) 지정, ▲2023년 ’드론 특별자유화구역’지정, ▲2023년 ‘지능형교통체계(ITS)’지속 구축 등의 지역 현안사업에 대해서 사업 추진이 이뤄지도록 지원과 협조를 요청했다.

원희룡 장관은 “경북의 심장인 구미가 성장해야 국가균형발전이 이루어질 수 있다“며 ”구미가 경북의 거점도시가 될 수 있도록 적극 검토하고 지원하겠다‘고 약속했다. 특히 그는 “이를 위해 구미시의 제안 사업을 빠른 시일내에 검토해 9월 중에 국토교통부 실무진들과 함께 다시 구미를 찾아 중간보고를 하는 자리를 마련하겠다”고 덧붙였다.
