한국반도체산업협회(KSIA)가 주최하는 이번 전시회는 메모리, 시스템, 장비·부품, 센서 등 반도체 전 분야를 아우르는 국내 최대 규모의 전문 박람회로, 280여 개 기업과 6만여 명의 업계 관계자가 참여해 최신 기술과 산업 동향을 공유한다.

구미시는 이번 행사에서 한국산업기술시험원(KTL)과 공동으로 홍보 부스를 운영하며, 수도권 및 국내 주요 반도체 기업을 대상으로 ‘찾아가는 투자유치홍보단’을 구성해 맞춤형 투자 상담을 진행한다. 시는 구미의 산업 인프라, 입지 경쟁력, 행·재정적 지원정책을 집중 홍보하며 실질적인 투자 유치로 이어질 수 있도록 적극 나설 계획이다.

특히 구미국가산단(1969년 조성)과 구미하이테크밸리의 ▲우수한 전력·용수 인프라 ▲물류 접근성 ▲숙련된 인력공급 체계 등 뛰어난 산업 기반을 강조하고, 반도체 소재·부품·장비(소부장) 기업이 안정적으로 성장할 수 있는 산업 생태계와 지원 시스템을 소개한다.

또한 현장 상담을 통해 유망 기업을 발굴하고 판로 개척 및 네트워크 확장을 지원하는 방안도 함께 모색한다. 향후에는 구미시와 경상북도, 유관기관이 연계해 현장 실사 및 입지 제안을 추진하고, 상담 단계에서 실제 투자로 이어지는 체계적인 프로세스를 구축할 방침이다.

구미시는 지난해 7월 반도체 분야 국가첨단전략산업 특화단지(구미 반도체특화단지)로 지정됐다. 이는 수도권에 집중된 반도체 공급망을 안정화하고, 장비·부품 기업의 협력기지로서 국내 반도체 산업의 균형 발전을 이끌 핵심 거점으로 평가받고 있다.

김장호 구미시장은 “구미는 국가산단의 풍부한 산업 경험과 하이테크밸리의 혁신 역량, 그리고 대구경북통합신공항 배후도시로서의 물류 경쟁력을 모두 갖춘 도시”라며 “이번 SEDEX 참가를 계기로 구미가 반도체 산업의 글로벌 중심지로 도약할 수 있도록 기업과의 협력을 지속 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

Gumi City to Participate in Semiconductor Expo (SEDEX 2025) to Attract Investment from Semiconductor Companies

Gumi City (Mayor Kim Jang-ho) announced that it will participate in the 27th Semiconductor Expo (SEDEX 2025), held at COEX in Seoul from October 22nd to 24th, to promote Gumi's excellent investment environment and support policies to domestic and international semiconductor companies.

Hosted by the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association (KSIA), this exhibition is Korea's largest specialized exhibition covering all semiconductor sectors, including memory, systems, equipment and components, and sensors. Approximately 280 companies and 60,000 industry professionals will participate, sharing the latest technologies and industry trends.

Gumi City will operate a promotional booth in collaboration with the Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL) at the event and will form an "Investment Promotion Team" to provide customized investment consultations to major semiconductor companies in the Seoul metropolitan area and Korea. The city plans to actively promote Gumi's industrial infrastructure, location competitiveness, and administrative and financial support policies to attract substantial investment.

In particular, the city will highlight the outstanding industrial foundations of the Gumi National Industrial Complex (established in 1969) and Gumi High-Tech Valley, including excellent power and water infrastructure, logistics accessibility, and a skilled workforce. The city will also introduce the industrial ecosystem and support systems that foster the stable growth of semiconductor materials, components, and equipment (MSE) companies.

Furthermore, the city will explore ways to identify promising companies through on-site consultations and support their market development and network expansion. Going forward, Gumi City, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, and relevant organizations will collaborate on on-site inspections and site proposals, establishing a systematic process that leads from consultation to actual investment.

In July of last year, Gumi City was designated as a National Advanced Strategic Industrial Complex for the semiconductor sector (Gumi Semiconductor Specialized Complex). This is considered a key hub for stabilizing the semiconductor supply chain, currently concentrated in the metropolitan area, and serving as a collaboration base for equipment and parts companies to drive balanced development in the domestic semiconductor industry.

Gumi Mayor Kim Jang-ho stated, "Gumi possesses the rich industrial experience of national industrial complexes, the innovative capabilities of the High-Tech Valley, and the logistics competitiveness of its position as the backbone of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Integrated New Airport.
