【브레이크뉴스 경북 】이성현 기자=경상북도가 국내 반도체산업의 중심지로 발돋움하고, 격차를 더 넓히기 위한 초격차 육성을 캐치프레이즈로 내걸었다.

이를 위해 29일 경북도청 화백당에서는 지역의 국회의원과 도의원, 경북 소재 산학연관 기관대표 약 100여명이 참석한 가운데 ‘경북 반도체산업 초격차 육성위원회 대국민 선언식’를 개최했다.

육성위원회 공동 위원장으로는 이철우 경북도지사를 비롯, 김장호 구미시장, 원익큐엔씨 대표이사가 맡았다.

이외에 기업에서는 SK실트론, KEC, 매그나칩반도체, 삼성SDI, 피엔티, LB루셈 등이 참여하고 포항공과대학교, 경북대학교, 영남대학교, 금오공과대학교 등의 지역 대학도 참여한다. 또, 구미전자정보기술원, 나노융합기술원 등 연구기관과 국회, 도의회, 구미시 등 총 30여개 기관․단체장이 참여했다. 

육성위원회를 통해 지역 소재 산학연 기관은 지역의 산업 혁신 역량을 결집하고 이를 통해 반도체 생태계 조성과 반도체 클러스터를 구축하는 데 힘을 응집시킬 예정이다. 나아가, 반도체 전문 인력양성과 인재채용을 통한 반도체산업 발전에도 적극적으로 대응하는 한편, 반도체 중심 도시인 구미를 중심으로‘반도체 특화단지’지정에 혁신역량을 집결할 예정이다.

이철우, 김장호, 백홍주 공동위원장은 구미시를 중심으로 하는 반도체 특화단지 지정에 강한 자신감을 내보였다. 구미는 전자와 반도체, 첨단소재에 이르기까지 첨단산업이 고르게 발전한 지역으로 대기업, 중소중견기업 등 3천여 개의 기업과 내륙최대 산업단지를 구비하고 있다.

구미시 관계자는 “산업단지에는 반도체 생산에 필수인 풍부한 공업용수와 안정적인 전력이 완비돼 있고, 특히 구미 국가 5산단에는 이미 확보된 부지를 바탕으로 기업의 신속한 대규모 투자가 가능하다”면서 “통합신공항 부지까지 20분 거리에 불과해 수출 물류 경쟁력이 뛰어나다. 또, 금오공대, 포항공대, 경북대 등을 중심으로 반도체 관련 계약학과를 신설하고 있어 우수한 인재 영입도 가능하다”고 말했다.

이외에 구미 산단에는 SK실트론, 원익큐엔씨, KEC, 삼성SDI, 매그나칩 등 글로벌 경쟁력을 가진 123개의 반도체 관련 기업이 입주하고 있는 점도 반도체 특화단지를 지정에 유리하게 작용할 전망이다.

백홍주 원익큐엔씨 대표이사는 “반도체는 디지털․그린 혁명 구현에 핵심 품목으로 인식하고 기업 간의 경쟁력을 넘어 정부와 기업의 연합 경쟁 시대로 돌입하면서 구미시가 반도체 특화단지로 지정되는데 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

이철우 경북도지사는 “반도체는 첨단전략산업으로 주요국들이 파격적인 지원을 하는 등 반도체 패권전쟁이 격화되고 있다”며“경북의 힘으로 반도체 산업 초격차 육성을 통해 지방의 희망과 청년의 꿈을 담아 대한민국의 미래를 선도해 나갈 수 있도록 아낌없이 지원하겠다”라고 밝혔다.
