【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=경상북도는 구미 반도체 특화단지 육성 및 활성화를 위해 국제협력 확대를 위해 지난 1일 독일 에를랑겐에서 프라운호퍼연구소와 간담회를 가지고 경북도 내 반도체 프로젝트센터 설립에 대해 논의했다고 4일 밝혔다.

경북도는 프라운호퍼연구소와‘포스텍-프라운호퍼 국제공동연구’가 정부의‘2017년도 해외우수연구기관 유치사업’에 선정된 후 지속해서 반도체 과제 협력을 추진해 왔다.

특히, 지난해 선정된 경북 구미 반도체 특화단지 육성 및 활성화를 위해서 기업 간 협의체, R&D 지원 협력체계뿐 아니라 해외 연구기관과의 국제협력 등 다양한 거버넌스 구축이 필요함에 따라 경북도는 지난 1월 정부출연연구기관 등 7개 기관과 업무협약을 통해 기업 R&D 지원 국내 협력체계를 마련했다.

이어서 독일 프라운호퍼 반도체 프로젝트센터 설립이 추진된다면 특화단지 내 반도체 기업의 R&D 수요 대응 기반이 강화될 것으로 보인다.

이날 경북도와 포스텍, 프라운호퍼 연구소는 올해 9월까지 경북 구미 반도체 특화단지 지원 방안과 반도체 프로젝트센터 구축에 대한 구체적 계획을 마련하기로 협의했다.

또한 경북도 핵심 산업인 이차전지와 미래산업인 양자 기술 협력 방안에 대해서도 향후 논의해 나가기로 했다.

이정우 경상북도메타버스과학국장은 “경북이 반도체 글로벌 초격차를 달성하려면 먼저 국내 및 국제적 반도체 기업지원 체계가 구축돼야 반도체 기업들이 경북에서 R&D를 수행한 후 자연스럽게 우리 지역에 투자할 수 있다.”며“진정한 반도체 생태계 형성을 위해 경북도는 모든 행정 역량을 집중해 나가겠다.”라고 말했다.
